After my LLMD, I have seen a variety of doctors that are similar to functional MDs. Some don’t even care for a “label”, some go buy different labels.
Whatever the case, what they all had in common after my LLMD, was I got appointments with these types of doctors who still accepted medical insurance. I sought help and advice from them for my other variety of ailments, which seems to from autoimmune and under immune conditions.
Problem was once health insurance figured out what these doctors were doing that it was not standard useless medical care, They dropped coverage after a couple years.
Convincing conventional medical family doctors to try something out of the ordinary, when I was successful, I could only accomplish this one item per appointment, that’s all their brains could mentally tolerate.
So now, after about three years, I finally had an appointment with one of these functional type doctors again that takes medical insurance, and it was a virtual appointment.
I mention past Lyme disease, but that’s not what these appointments are for.
So I don’t know how well this will work out, but she seems to have pretty deep interest and knowledge in thyroid, and all around general autoimmune conditions and gut health. So this could be good.
First doctor ever met who has experience in and wants to try low-dose Nex..(whatever it’s called lol )on me.
One thing I don’t like about this, as it will interfere with my thyroid medicine levels, which is always a pain in the neck to adjust.
Anyone on LDN here who can give me any advice or tell me what your experience was with it?
As far as my Hashimoto thyroid goes, she was very well aware of the shortcomings of endocrinologist! What a relief this is to hear for once in my life! I’ve may have actually met a doctor, who actually understands thyroid conditions better than I do which sounds ridiculous to say, but it’s true that so many of them, all of them to my extent, so far have limited knowledge, and just go by the book. And that so-called book of thyroid treatment probably only works for 50% of the patients.
