Swelling in Upper Left Shoulder - See a Lyme Cardiologist on Thursday

Hey All,

I had a massage yesterday to help with lymph drainage and circulation. The area I've been complaining about for months (my left chest/breast) is swollen, and my massage therapist said she could feel it in my left shoulder/side area. Do you have any idea what this could be from? Have any of you had experience with this?

I see a cardiologist on Thursday, who is the only one in the state who also understands Lyme. He is also an internist and can formally diagnose POTS.

the above is good advice i think

swollen lymph nodes in say the arm pit where there is less soft tissue covering them can be quite apparent - but swelling in the chest area could be a number of different things and really needs a proper diagnosis by a hands on medical doctor and quite likely scans of some form to rule things out.

if you have not done so already i would advise seeing a primary care medical doctor in the first instance who should then refer you to the appropriate specialist - if they cannot diagnose themselves.

the cardiologist will be solely focused on the heart itself and not really in a position to diagnose other internal conditions - so in your shoes i would make an appointment with a primary care MD asap.

I'm so sorry you're still dealing with this strange swelling, Savedbygrace! You've had a lot of tests done already, which I know is both reassuring (ruling out some scary things) and frustrating (because you still don't know what's going on)! In the reassuring spirit, it will be nice to rule out any cardiac issues, although I would think you'd have other symptoms as well if your heart were causing that degree of noticeable inflammation? Who knows!

Have you had a lymph node biopsy yet?
