i have not heard of anyone being prescribed it yet

since it has limited FDA approval ( approved for use in only a few conditions) - many doctors will not prescribe it off label for Lyme

in general most main stream doctors will want to keep new antibiotics (especially those like this one - designed to overcome antimicrobial resistance) - as a reserve option - for patients that have known antimicrobial resistant infections - as the medical community at large is very concerned about the growing problem of antimicrobial resistance - since the sooner they start using the newer antibiotics the sooner there will be resistance to that also.

this is why most new antibiotics launches in the last 30 years have failed commercially

LLMD's might be more liberal

in any case, although it has some interesting properties, unfortunately, i would not expect it to be a wonder drug for chronic lyme or chronic infections in general.
the reason being is this is an antibiotic from an existing class of antibiotics.
we know how that family works
and we know that this class / mechanism is not very effective for persister cells, or cells in biofilms - and it is these cells formed by borrelia and bartonella that make them so hard to treat

the main changes in this new drug from tetracycline / doxycycline were made to try to defeat two known methods of antimicrobial resistance - ie in things like MRSA

But in Lyme - bacterial antimicrobial resistance is not the problem - bacterial antimicrobial tolerance is
these are unfortunately different mechanism to the above - and therefore drugs targeting antimicrobial resistance may not be any better at dealing with antimicrobial tolerance - since tolerance works by different mechanisms

that said - it may still prove to be useful - ie if used in combinations - much like doxycycline typically is for chronic Lyme etc.

this is the reason we really need altogether new classes of antibiotic for chronic tick born infections

in the meantime - the ones we have can still be effective - but it typically takes combinations of multiple antibiotics and long courses to get patients over the line.
