I had posted about Lyme and kidneys awhile back but can't find the thread to update it now. That post was about my Mom's kidney #s and whether it was safe to treat her for Lyme & Co. with abx. Her EGFR was around 60 at times and her Creatinine was usually .90+ and even up to around 1.00.
So update is that we've been treating her for Lyme & Co with some abx. No real change in her kidneys though they at times looked a little better. Then started Alinia for Babs/BLO and have used that quite a bit recently. Her kidney #s still fluctuate somewhat but two out of three times checked since starting Alinia, her EGFR has been over 80 and her Creatinine has been under .80. Another number that was better when her kidney #s showed better was her blood glucose that dropped about 10 points from in the 90s to into the 80s. Based on her #s and some of my own, I think in our case treating Babs/BLO is helping kidney function.
She's fighting higher liver enzymes since starting Alinia, not sure exactly why but she's had higher LDH for some time so perhaps we're killing infection in the liver. The enzymes did go down some when took a break from Alinia so seems connected.
