Worse when starting treatment?

Hi Everyone,
I started treatment with a new doctor around 1 month ago and it seems my symptoms are WORSE!!!! The dizziness and anxiety which are two of my worst symptoms are horrible now. It makes me question how can I even get through this? I am starting at lower doses and building up and still feel those. I am on How long can I expect it to stay bad like this before seeing a turnaround? Sometimes I feel I will be stuck like this forever.

Pickleball, it sounds like you're probably just herxing, no? Unless the new provider has you on exactly the same protocol, then it makes sense that your response to the meds would be different, and probably cause some herxing for a while. I know that's so disappointing, though!

Honestly I feel like garbage the whole time I'm on antimicrobials, with no improvement, even over the course of years. Is there a chance you are dealing with a side effect to one of the meds, or maybe mast cell activation syndrome?

Agree with what has already been mention - herx. I'm about to start treating again very slowly and anticipating bad reactions. Starting at low doses and slowly is a must with many people. Sorry about them closing.

I sometimes have similar feeling and it is causing depression and frustration. Especially, even I know its a herx, and so something to rejoice, still after years of taking abx, then sometimes i doubt weather it is herx or symptoms getting worse and whether there is any progress in the treatment or not.

I have noticed that after a day or two things are already different. But especially when I m supposed to "function normally" in some daily events, and then I have a lyme-bart turbulence such as herx or sever pain, then its getting more hard. Also pressure from family, friends, "to finally get healed" makes things worse.

Anyway I think we need to be warriors and carry on, even if a battle is overwhelming, not to give up and loose my heart and mind, on contrary to try to find some resource and support myself with directing my mind on something nice and wholesome, so as not to get stuck in a vicious circle of depression, hopelessness, blame...

Sometimes you can also break down a lot of biofilm and make your infection temporarily more active, especially if you don't take abx to kill whatever you you dump out of the biofilm. It gets tricky since some abx break biofilm.

But yes herxing is huge.
