Hi Bailey, do you mind sharing more about how you know your gaba is low and glutamate high and what you do to increase gaba and reduce glutamate or anything you’ve tried in the past? As this is an area I’m really interested in! Thank you
To be honest, my lab results haven't been interpreted by a doctor so I'm not completely sure if the test means what I think it means. However, my doctor ordered AMINO AC QUANT LCMS P test on my blood and my glutamic acid came back high. Gaba came non existent, though non existent is part of normal measures range.
I have light sensitivity particularly in my right eye. It took me a long time to connect why then some things help it and other things don't, but eventually I realized anything that increases the gaba effects of the gaba glutamate balance helps. Many of them crested other issues for me though so only a small number have been kept. I'll list the ones i remember below
Licorice: helps vision, created mcas issues
Lemon balm: helps vision created mcas issues
Chamomile: helps vision created brain inflammation issues
Klonopin: helps vision, drops bp and it's a controlled substance
L theonine: creates licorice like mcas issues
Gaba: creates licorice like mcas issues
Taurine: I use this regularly
Magnesium: works but not strongly
Bpc 157: works wonders, but created mcas issues
Kpv: helps but created mcas issues
Tb4 frag: works but created mcas issues
Amlexanox: works, but not as well as other peptides, and drops blood sugar and blood pressure
Artemisnin??? : I used it years ago, and didn't have much noticeably help, but recently tried tiny amount and it broke tons of biofilm and made my right eye vision improve. I read one paper that made me think it might affect gaba
Vitamin k2: sort of temporarily helps vision bt it's unclear if it's because it helps gaba production. It might have more to do with increasing vascular flexibility in my case because of my ijv compression and eagles
Atorvastain: helps my vision temporarily but might have nothing to do with gaba, and more to do with aforementioned vascular flexibility and ijv compression etc
Inulin: helps me vision, breaks down biofilm, it's unclear if this is promoting gaba or is helium by some other mechanism
Tributyrin: helps vision but unclear if it is being producing keep gaba, increasing vascular flexibility, or helping mitochondria. It also drops my blood pressure and like other many mito encouraging compounds gives me headaches
Benagene: helps my vision by means of gaba (or at least that's why my docs gave it to me, but technically it could just be helping my mito). As mentioned above it could be helping vision because of helping mitochondria but, it also seems to encourage headaches
That's all I can remember at the moment.
