flushing type rash on forearms....have you had this?

Hi all,

My Mom started Doxy a few days ago and has had several rashes that have come and gone within a couple of hours on her forearms. There are no red dots; rather her skin turns pink and itches and feels really tight. I am wondering if this could be a herx. She is also having more "arthritis" symptoms since starting the doxy.

She did have a similar thing happen on her back a couple of months ago before she started abx, so I'm thinking it might be a herx rather than an allergy to the med. She did contact her doctor and he said to continue the meds and see what happens. I guess he is not too concerned about it being an allergic reaction. She has never had allergies to abx in the past.

I would love to hear if anyone else had this happen, and if so, what you attributed it to.

Thanks for the info. My mom thinks that it came from the high doses of niacin that she was taking. She hasn't had it happen since she stopped the niacin!
