Leslie Rae Wermers www.lymefighters.org We will miss you Les.

Leslie passed away on Sunday.

Leslie, one of the founders of Lyme Fighters.org (www.lymefighters.org) was truly a blessing to so many.  Leslie and Tracie have done more for Lyme Disease than anyone I have ever met. 

Leslie's number one goal, even when she could not get out of bed, was to help those infected get to the right doctor.  She always lifted me up when I felt discouraged and we would often end our conversation with "we are going to get those ??@@?!!!  She always made me laugh with her go getum' attitude!

She dedicated her life to Lyme Disease.

I will miss her terribly.  I had just heard from her Saturday night and then she was gone.

I am speechless.

I left a message yesterday for Tracie to call me so I know definitely what happened.  Leslie was sick for years before a diagnosis. The way I am understand it is she died from Lyme but that is only by what Tracie has on her voicemail and the website. I want to talk with Tracie but she is a mess and then I left her a message and by the time I was done leaving it, I was sobbing.  Leslie was the best!  I will keep you posted.  Yes, their website is the best one out there.  Alot the website was done by Tracie because Leslie was so sick.  They definitely do not hold back on there either.  They speak the truth on there!  Tracie sent me a taping of a radio show she did and I must have listened to it 10 times.  Very humble people though.  Leslie probably got hundreds of people into the right doctors.  Minnesota has such a high number of people infected (sad thing is like most people, they do not even know they have.)

(My cardiologist FINALLY admitted to me that a young girl came in with heart block, it was because of a tick bite.  17 years old and almost died.  You know what I say?   DUH. What is it going to take but at least he is more open to listening to me vent now.  I think when I was first bitten and had the skipping beats, pounding heart,  he thought I was creating my own anxiety.  (If doctors do not know what they are looking for, how in the world will they ever find it?") 

I wrote to you about Dr. S. a while back but you know me, I am always sending your e-mails to the wrong address! lol! The girl went to see him and received her results yesterday.  She tested pos. for L.D. and babesia.  Now, what is horrible is she tested pos. last January, the doctor never gave her the results, was tested by another doctor, that came back negative, tested pos with Dr. S through Igenex and now she is another victim to the craziness of this infection but the good news is she starts treatment today.  I need to talk with you soon! I miss you, just so darn busy with work, trying to keep the house afloat, doggy, kitties etc.  I am going now. I am going down to visit my dad before work today.  Let's catch up soon sweetie!

AAAAHHHH, so I see that many of you were touched by Leslie too. 

Thanks for all the wonderful comments here.

If there is anything we can do, its to support Tracie now.  If you open up their website, go to the home page.  You will see Tracie on the left and Leslie on the right.  Tracie and Les have done such an excellent job on this website, I really do think it is the best one out there. Their hearts were in it.  Now, my buddy Tracie can't be left alone with that website. She is really sick too and will need alot of support.

Leslie had so many complications because she was misdiagnosed for soooooo long.  She had lesions on her spine from the tick borne illness but doctor after doctor would misdiagnose her. 

Now I sit and wonder, since I am so pissed that she is gone, what will I do in memory of her?  That's the key here. What can we all do? I think we can start by learning more about what Tracie's mission is.  Find ways to help her, anything at all.
