I just saw the repeat (from last night's episode) of Charlie Rose. The first half of the program was about
the movie Frost/Nixon. The second half was about
biodiversity. He had on Paul Nurse (Nobel Laureate), Michael Navacek and Edward O. Wilson (the ant guy)... anyway, they were all talking about
climate change, the extinction of species, our carbon footprint, etc. And one of the first "examples" brought up by Paul Nurse was LYME DISEASE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He used it as his first example of our encroachment into habitat that is resulting in new diseases.... things we cannot replicate in a petri dish, etc. I just looked at my husband and screamed "YES" - "and it came from the mouth of a Nobel Laureate" (Physiology/Medicine).
Word is out and intelligent people know what's going on.
