Organic Raw Blue Agave Sweetner

Is this a safe sweetener to use for people with Lyme and Co?

The owner of the health food store I go to said it would be great to use instead of splenda and better for my Hypoglycemia. I have been Hypoglycemic my whole life. It's not from the lyme. But just wanted to know if it was safe to use now that I do have Lyme and Co.

I only know about agave sirup, my dad uses it because he has to monitor his blood sugar level; it has a lot of fructose and does not alter the blood sugar; they say it can be used by diabetics, it has a low gi.

Yes thank you that is what I heard. and just wanted to know if it was safe to use if you have Lyme and Co.

hi ria 123 ! I personally think agave sirup is better than normal white sugar which is a chemical product (no vitamins or minerals left in there!) especially when one is ill or has chronic diseases; the food we ate in former times contained only small amounts of different types of sugar; the metabolism of the white sugar requires accessory nutrients which are involved in its combustion, including vitamins, minerals and even some protein and fat molecules. if you can go for any organic alternative to "white sugar" i think you are doing something good to your entire metabolism.

Hi ria123! Our docs told us to use agave syrup as a natural sweetener to get us away from sugar and artificial sweeteners. We tried it and really like it. We do have lyme and coinfections, and that is why the docs suggested we try it. The naturopaths tested us and we are not allergic to it, so it has worked out great for us.

Does Agave syrup not provide food to yeast?

I've came across - Organic Unsulphured Blackstrap Molasses and I'm wondering what's everyone's opinion? I've read that it doesn't get metabolized and when it gets into the guts it actually helps to kill bacteria or something?

And, I've came across recipes using coconut flour that sweeten the cake, since it contains "sweet rice flour", so that's made from glutinous rice, is that sugar okay to be consumed?

I see agave syrup mentioned but I came across this site about yeast since I'm taking antibiotics to treat my Bartonella, it says to stay away from agave.

Flowerpoddess--- I think moderation is the key with all the things you questioned. Yes, agave, if consumed in excess, would probably feed yeast. Just like it's not a good idea to eat fruit in excess because it feeds the yeast. Having no sugar of any kind would be the ideal, but the reality of that happening is zero...So if you must sweeten something, i'd say agave is way better than using white sugar or artificial sweeteners. Molasses I'm not educated on. My naturopath doesn't want me to have it, but that could be a personal body thing, and other people would have no problem consuming it. I've used coconut flour before. Seemed OK. I didn't notice a surge of yeast in my own body, but everybody is different. Again, in moderation, probably would not harm you. Good luck!

flowerpoddess - I thought ria123 was describing a blue "sweater" instead of a "sweetner".  I just read it all wrong.... haha! - and so did Dowa!

hi flowerpoddess! i could not get along with the Molasses....ONLY because to me it tastes and smells like licorice, something i cannot accept in my morning coffee....but tastes are different;

yeast likes any kind of sugar; therefore its recommended to cut it down and to eat a lot of roughage because this eliminates the yeast nests in the body; toothbrushes should be chanced often because yeast loves to live on them as well as in /on dental caries.

the "no -sugar-at-all- diet" is controversal here, some docs recommend to eat as natural as possible - means: stay away from white sugar, use organic food and go for whole-grain products, eat a lot of vegetables ( uncooked if possible) and salats, rarely sweet fruits; create a healthy natural balance between the foods liked.

i don´t know the coconut flour, i only know "rice - sirup" which does not contain fructose and allows slow resorption of the sugars it contains.
