I got my results and the np explained that it was borderline..it showed that my brain had been affected by lyme but its something that can be changed w/antibiotics.. she said that since i've only been on this specific dr's protocol for 3 weeks, they will wait until my next appt. in 4 more weeks to see how this specific medicine protocol works for me.. she said i will not be put on IV yet and that is something that will be discussed at the next appt... what were other people's spect results??

Hi H: Borderline for what?? A spect tells you many things. Where the brain has been affected, blood flow, toxic encephalopathy, neruo toxicity. I dont understand when they say "borderline", what are they referring to, the damage?? 

I am curious, how do they tell that it was definately the lyme that was affecting your brain??  D

i believe borderline for the blood flow.. they didn't seem concerned at all..they told me it was consistent w/how lyme would affect the brain and is reversible w/treatment... when asked what a bad scan would be , they said it would be "global"

An example of a SPECT that would be of greater concern and maybe require more aggressive treatment would be:
A brain spect that shows bilateral hypoperfusion defects (both sides of with low blood flow) in the occipital, parietal, and temporal lobes.

Those were my results. After treatment it improved almost back to normal.
