Any one on Bi-cillen injections?

I am supposed to have one - once per week - prefilled syringes. I can't seem to find anyone to give the first one. My GP won't do it because he didn't prescribe it.

I was told that once a nurse shows you how to do it that you can do it yourself.

Anybody? Ideas?

Bcaring: I give myself two injections weekly (B complex) and I asked my doctor to teach me to do it. I practiced on an orange (like you see in nursing school). It is quite easy to inject yourself. As your GP to teach you if he will not do it for you.  D

ITS NOT THAT BAD  just lay on the bed and reach back and stick it in the upper hip/rump. Inject slow but stedy.

When your sick enough an injection is nothing.  You can find instructions on the net. Look up intermuscular injections.

There is a great site that goes step by step how to give the injection plus some really good tips..my husband gave mine to me just because he didn't mind doing it. I would give you the site but I no longer have my instructions. Just type in How to give Bicillin-LA injection. It help us out tremendously.

I am surprised your doctor won't show you how to do the first one. His nurses must be familiar with IM injections. If I can find the site again I will re post.

Disregard question about any concerns - the posts are very in depth.

I am looking for something to administer in case of an allergic reaction. I may find it in the posts but if you have suggestions, great.

Again - did you have any improvement over time? It sounds like a good drug that works slowly over time.

I had no side effects at all. I think if you are not allergic to penicillin you would be alright. But I would have a nurse do the first injection just in case. Maybe call your doctor's office and see if they are willing. Mine was but my husband ended up doing them. Unfortunately they didn't help me at all. I had the most success with Rocephin and am now on my second round of IV but it doesn't seem to be doing anything this time around.

I know people have had good luck with the Bicillin but in order to be effective they have to be given 3X weekly according to my doctor (Dr. H). I started on two and quickly went to three. I was on them almost 4 months with no improvement but  I had to give it a try. I wish you luck with them and if you have any other questions I will be happy to answer them.

My LLMD wants me to have them but my insurance won't cover them it would be 100 per week. I also hear they are painful and to get Lidicane cream to put on one hour before???? I got the cream but never got the meds. I am all tapped out from paying for the IV last year and I really thing my issues are bart related now anyway. Hope it works for you it is supposed to be effective for Lyme. Blessings
