As you guys may or may not know Lyme disease Borrelia burgdorferi spirochete are VERY closely related to the Syphilis spirochete. In fact they are often refered to as cousins. Under the microscope they are virtually identical and the late stage symptoms and effects on the body are also very similar. Some experts believe that Lyme can actually be sexually transmitted as well as the other known tic means. If that were true it would help explain the lack of rash on some people. Lyme has also been shown to be transmitted to the baby while inside the mother. What I am getting at here is that we are treating virtually the same bacteria. Do you guys know what antibiotics treat Syphilis? Doxycycline,Tetracycline, and Ceftriaxone. Sound familiar? We are virtually treating the same late stage illness so how about applying the same principles to treatment!? Other then antibiotics lets see what works for the Neurosyphilis patients. If you want to find out more just google "Lyme Disease and Syphilis"
Also, have all of you Lymies had syphilis testing?
