I read this, this evening Ticker. I was really sorry to see this but it does make you stop and think.
I was hoping that there would be an autopsy and one of the articles does include that information...
"Investigators are working with the state Department of Environmental Protection to see whether the chimp had Lyme disease, Stamford police Capt. Richard Conklin said. They also sent the chimp's head upstate to have it tested for rabies -- the protocol in animal attacks -- and sent the body to the University of Connecticut for an autopsy and a toxicology examination"
It is one of those bitter realities of the potential of the borrelia. We wait with baited breath b/c it could be very revealing for the Lyme community and those who are called to consider the science at the IDSA table. I really appreciate that this forensic autopsy is taking place. I am sorry for the owner's loss.
