Hi all.

My diagnosis is Fibromyalgia (with IBS, IC, GERD, allergies, Asthma, Fibrocystic Breasts and so forth...). I've recently had a diabetes test because my mouth has been burning and I've been very thirsty. Due to my asthma meds (I believe), I developed oral thrush. I wasn't rinsing my mouth well and I had been on antibiotics. The Diabetes test came back negative. I also have VERY dry eyes and am beyond thirsty. The mouth burning, thirst and GERD are driving me nuts.

Anyway... I'm seeing a Rheumatologist in about a week. My primary doctor has been handling my Fibro and has agreed that it is time to get a second opinon. My question: Should I mention Lyme disease to Rheumatologist? My family is in upstate New York and I've spent many summers there. There have been times in the last years that I've come back from visiting, full of bites.

Have them test you for sjogrens disease. Dry eyes and dry mouth are very common in sjogrens. I have two aunts that have it, its an autoimmune disorder than affects the moisture in your body. A very dry mouth is classic.   D

Lyme can cause Sjogrens. Vitamin B12 deficiency can cause a burning sensation in the mouth. It is common for people with Fibromyalgia to have nutritional imbalances that contribute to their symptoms (Magnesium deficiency is one of the most common). Your other diagnoses are consistant with many who have finally found their issues to be related to Lyme, so it would be good if you could at least get tested to find out if Lyme is a possibility. You can ask for a Lyme test, but be prepared for either a flat NO, or a denial that it could even be a possibility.  The Rheumy I saw said it couldn't be lyme because I had never camped in the Northeast (like that's the only place with lyme), I never remembered having a bull's eye rash, although my son had one when he was 1 year old, and if I had lyme for 7 years I would be much sicker than I was.  I was seeing him because of the joint pain.  He was really rude and condescending and said my positive Western Blot was probably a "false positive".

I went to a dentist because my mouth pain was driving me INSANE. Anyway, she agreed with the other two docs: they think that it is dry mouth, not thrush. They also think that the gerd is causing this. OF course, GERD does not rule out Lyme! Anyway, I'll be sure to ask the Rheumy about it. I'm seeing my primary care doc very soon to follow up on the mouth and GERD issues. I might have to look into the possiblity of going back to the gastro. I'm belching (seriously) like every few seconds, can't eat much without it coming back up, have a sore throat (and mouth, of course) and taste vinegar in my mouth. Not good. I do realize that worrying about it only makes matters worse!

Try sending your blood work to IGENEX and see what all you ar4e dealing with. And tell me about all of the bites you got in the summer...
What do you mean....all......what did they look like.....how did you feel?
Did you ever get a flu or throw up or a fever during the summer...neck pain...fatique?
How old are you?

Oh and so that you do not have to list your symptoms every time...list them under your posted name....like mine bellow, that needs to be re-done...lol
