Increasing oxygen with exercise is supposed to be very helpful. Lyme also hate a rise in temperature - it cannot survive in temperatures above 105 degrees, and exercise increases body heat, although not to that level. When I was exercising regularly I did much better. Something like a dance class three times a week is great.
Eat food with antioxidants like ground flax seed, broccoli, green leafy vegetables, blueberries. . . google antioxidants.
There are immune boosting herbs like cat's claw, Teasel root, garlic, grape seed extract, Japanese knotweed and andrographis. You can buy Buhner's book which lists a lot of herbs he believes work well with lyme. Grapefruit seed extract is supposed to kill the cyst form of lyme. Sasparilla, which you can make into a tea is good to drink and green tea is full of antioxidants and recommended by Burascanno. Lyme depletes magnesium, vitamin D and vitamin B (especially 12 and 6) so these should be supplemented. You should also get a really good multi vitamin, mineral, amino acid supplement (not the small pill one a day type). Almonds have a lot of magnesium so they are a great snack. Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant and some people use it as a form of treatment.
Never eat/drink sugar alcohol or white flour. Avoid foods high in the glycemic index like corn, some fruits and fruit juices. Lyme (as well as cancer) love sugar so you need to avoid those foods that quickly convert to glucose in your blood. Red meat is full of toxins so it is best to eat fish and some poultry and vegetarian foods. Some people develop food allergies with lyme and cannot tolerate milk or wheat. ABX can also make you lactose intolerant.
Removing heavy metals from your body (just learned this, thanks to Martha's V.) is helpful to your recovery. You can get something for this at the health food store.
After awhile you love your new diet and wouldn't dream of picking up a candy bar. If only we were so smart prior to infection!
