Afternoon fevers

I think bart and babesia can both cause fever. I also get hot flashes with bart but I think the best way to determine if you have bart is through skin changes. Look for tiny papules that look like blood blister, crusty moles, pea size dark skin patches, lumps under the skin especially over the bone (mine are on the shins), loss of pigment, stretch marks that are red or purple or skin colored, things that look like skin tags, spider web like veins or broken vessels, thickening of the skin that looks like your lower legs, ankles or feet are swollen (but does not leave a dent when pressed) and unusual markings that look like chicken wire or stacked clams.

Thanks Nef. I have many skin problems, chronic staph and fungal infections that I blamed on immune deficiency. I didnt think it was bart because most of the pictures I looked at had the stretch marks for bart. I have petichiae more and more lately but also have allergic vasculitis. The fevers are something new, thanks for your help.  D

Dowa - have you done a lot of immune support, trying to stimulate cytokines?
Some are responsible to produce "good" fevers; its some of the interleukins and the tnf alpha if I remember right; due to the increase of body temp the tissue metabolism is increased, leucozytes can go from the bloodstream into tissue, antibody production is increasing. etc ( sorry that I cannot explain better) - all in all this is an immune response of the body. Could it be a sign that you got something working for you? How did you feel before the fevers started? Do you have the feeling they help you? Will you see a doc to ask? My rash started off like a mosquito bite and then spread. Mine itches really bad. Blah!!

Anyway, I know this is all so confusing but I do hope you get answers soon.

I've been wondering about this myself. Really high fever sent me to insist on getting tested in '92. Some where around 104F and made me so delirious my 13 year old daughter got the neighbor lady to come take care of me.

Of course the pos. antigen test "couldn't be Lyme". I the Fam. Dr.that pulled the blood for the lab put me on some kind of antibiotic for 10 days just because "I had to be having an infection somewhere...."

I walked around feverish like that during a highly stressful time, and then we moved and I had a complete breakdown healthwise. I pretty much zombied out for I don't know how long.

The fevers came back last Spring, which was enough to convince my Dr. to have me tested again and with whatever test they used it came back pos. for RMSF.
The disappeared after the 90 day doxy and zithromax, but returned in the 30 day interim I was struggling to get an appointment and get him to prescribe abx again.

So, I've been taking Flagyl for a couple weeks or more. I've recently upped it to 2xday. Low grade fevers with the extreme aching/burning muscles is hitting me again in the late evenings.

I would think between the abx and the occasional oxcodone-acetaminephen I take for unrelated severe chronic pain, the fevers would be kept at bay.

Realizing low fevers are good, that the body is trying to cook out problems, I hate the flu-like aching that comes with it.

If I ask him to have me tested for Babesia he's only going to make another face at me. What's some good natural ways to deal with it, that won't mess me up if I don't have Babesia?
