I never have sore throats.....ever. I took a round of amoxicillian 1500mg for a bladder infection and have had a sore throat since then. Some days are worse than others. I've been dealing with a sinus infection and now my throat has gotten worse. I'm running fever too and feel like crap. Why does a low fever make you feel so bad? I'm trying to pump myself up with viamin c but it doesn't seem to be working this time. I really don't want to take antibiotics yet because I'm not finished getting my body ready. I wanted to do a yeast cleansing first.

Anyone have any natural solutions to help me out? Sometimes I feel like I can barely swallow. Ugh!! Anyone have sore throats while taking antibiotics?

Zinc lozenges may help. There are sugar-free versions. Also, make sure you drink lots of water, warm or cold, depending on what feels better on your throat. Honey is supposed to be soothing for the throat, too, but with yeast issues, I wouldn't do that if I were you. My Husband likes the numbing lozenges that have menthol in them when he gets a sore throat.

I've never gotten a sore throat as a result of taking antibiotics.

Hi,

     My sore throats started 3 days after I stopped Zithro IV therapy- very strange. An old fashion remedy might help (especially since the salt/vit. C protocol has been good for many lymeys). Softly gargle w/ 2 tsp. salt to a cup of warm water. Hope this helps and hope you feel better soon- you will!

Razzle: Where can I get those lozenges that numb the throat? I've already sucked a half of a bag of halls with menthol and it doesn't do much. It just helps for the little while I have it in my mouth. Not much though.

My mom used to get honey from this lady that had honey bees and omg, it was soooo good. I loved that stuff as a kid. We would take a spoonful for sore throats back then. It's got so much sugar in it though.

ljantler: I'm glad someone else but me has gotten this after antibiotics. I remember reading about a few people that had it with Lyme and couldn't get rid of it. It's been off and on for me for a few months now.

I forgot all about gargling with warm salt water. I will try that tonight. My dad swears by hydrogen peroxide. He gargles with it and put some in his ear when he had an ear infection. Yuck!! I don't want to do that right now unless I have too, LOL.

I had a sore throat for 10 months while taking amox/probenecid and ketek. Once I started on Levaquin the sore throat went away. I guess it was some sort of reaction to the medication.

It was extremely sore everyday for 10 straight months...I use to gargle and use cough drops.

Wow, 10 months!?! Oh man, I don't know if I can take this for that long. My husband thinks I'm nuts sucking so many cough drops but it hurts soooo bad. I am a big baby when it comes to sore throats plus running fever with it doesn't help. I feel like I've been run over by a truck. I'm trying so hard to push myself so that I can spend time with my mom tomorrow for Mothers Day. I hope I make it.

my theory is allergies. they are awful here in the east.

I don't know if cajun country has had much rain, but it's been hell.

i awoke with a sore throat and remember your post so was concerned. Today after claritin -- ok...as far as i know.

My Husband gets them at the local grocery store in the pharmacy section. I think they're called Chloraseptic throat drops or something like that.

Yeah, salt water gargles are good too. I hope you feel better soon...take care,

CajunGrl - could you just stay in bed if you feel bad? Relaxing, sleeping and resting? It can do wonders and help your immune system to concentrate on your infection. Also gargling with healing clay may help you with the sore throat; you may have to get used to it b/c it feels funny to have some of this sandy stuff left on the tongue but it eliminates everything in an absolute safe way! It also eliminates the burning for quite a while; if this comes back, gargle again. My whole family is using this when they need sth for sore throat. Put a spoonful in a glass with warm water, stir it up and gargle; you have to continue stiring b/c the clay sinks to the ground immediatelly but the trick is to have the clay on the mucous in the throat.
We also use wobenzym go get rid of infections, colds, sinus infection, bronchitis etc included.

Oh yes! We have big time allergy problems here in the south. I suffer with them all the time especially when it gets humid. But, even when I have allergies, I never have a sore throat. I never have a monthly cycle either since I've been on the Depo shot but I have one this month. Yippie! I'm just broken, LOL.

I wish I could take something for it over the counter but I'm so sensitive to everything now. I tried claritin.....or was it dayquil? I tried one of them and felt like I was gonna literally come out of my skin. When I get a prescription from the doctor, I have to tell them to give me a lower dosage. I'm just weird like that I guess, LOL.

That's all I do is stay home. I'm so tired of being in the house. I feel like I'm in jail. That's why I'm trying to push myself. Plus, I always miss everything. I always get invited to things and am usually too sick to make it. I'm just praying I'm okay tomorrow. Either way, my Mom's house is just down the road so if I start feeling bad, I can come home. Thanks for caring and understanding though. It's not often that someone tells me to stay home. I'm usually told, "Just try to push through." Im sure you know how that goes.

Anyway, thank you for all the info on natural solutions. I appreciate it so much.

Could it be yeast? If it persists can try liquid antifungal, diflucan, or colloidal silver. Is your tongue coated or other yeast symptoms? If it's severe gastroenterologist can take a look......good luck

Hey pcpc,

I do have pretty bad yeast problems but I've never had a white coated tongue so not sure if it could be that or not. I just know it's very irritating to have this every day now. I have a natural yeast cleanse that I need to start but keep putting off because my daughters birthday is coming up and I don't want to be even sicker than I already am. I need to start it soon though.

if your tunge is white coated sounds to me like yur have trush coused by yeast, my daughter had this when she was 2 months old. its easy to cure. go to your doctor and get the meds for it, in 2 days you should show inprovement.

Antibiotics can change the way your stomach works also. Apple cider vinegar shots can help restore the acid in your stomach. Stomach juices can come up and make your throat sore if you dont have enough acid in your stomach to digest your food. so apple cider vinegar shots after a meal can aid in a healthy digestive cycle from breaking down food in your stomach and keeping juices down in there to moving the food through your bowls at a high enough acidic level to produced regular movements and adequate cleansing.

I also never had sore throats, but developed one recently while on 600 mg Azithromycin.  It was so bad for weeks, some days worse than others, and hurt very bad in the mornings.  My throat looked swollen but there were no lesions.  My PCM did a culture which came back negative.  I used lidocaine and cloroseptic but neither worked.  Then, a couple of weeks ago I was switched from azitrhmycin to biaxin, and the sore throat went away within about a week of the switch.

My tongue doesn't have a white coating on it. That's why I'm not sure if it's yeast related. Could be though even though I don't have the white coating. I guess yeast can do anything when it's in your body.

I've heard of taking apple cider venegar for stomach problems. I had tried it before but couldn't take the taste of it. It's so strong! LOL I may try it again though because I did have erosion in my esophagus before from acid coming up. I've felt like my stomach has been better but you just neverbknow what acid is doing. Sometimes you don't know it's coming up.

Thanks for posting that. I don't know what's causing it but I've had it since I got off of amoxicillian. I'm supposed to be taking biaxin soon so I guess ibwill see if there is a difference.
