Hi MCG141, Welcome to the forum!! There is a lot of useful info on this forum and people are friendly and willing to share their knowledge and experiences. I am sorry you are having to face health issues. Read the topic at the top of the first page of this forum entitled "The Basics, Newbies check this out". It will have a lot of info to get you started learning about lyme.
To answer you questions: Yes, your husband's symptoms are common to "lymies", and Yes, you can have a negative test but in reality, have the disease. You need to find a Lyme Literate Medical Doctor (llmd) that knows how to properly test for lyme AND the coinfections that can all come from the bite of a tick or other vector. Ask our member Ticker for suggestions on which doctors to see in your area. You can also post a topic on the forum stating you need a doctor in your area and then members can respond to you about who to see. It would be beneficial to post your email so that you can be contacted privately about doctors names. You can also contact your state or local lyme disease association for recommendations.
There is a lot to learn, so prepare yourselves to "hang in there". Find a doctor that will recognise the symptoms Clinically, and treat your husband based on his symptoms. The tests can be very unreliable. As you learn about these illnesses, you will see why they are so controversial and why people say it is like living in "Alice in Wonderland"-----where everything is upside down and backwards!
Best wishes for a speedy return to good health!
