Altho I have not experienced the marked and prolonged tingling sensations that many of you talk about
, I have had some tingling on and off in my fingers, hands and feet.
However, what I am asking about is different from this. (unless this is what you experience?) When the cellulitis in my thumb was getting better -- er, I thought it was getting better -- my thumb 'tingled' a lot. By 'tingled', I mean, it felt as if there were zillions of tiny bumblebees buzzing in there (the feeling, not the sound). ANd often, my whole hand felt that way. It would come and go, but when it came, it was quite pronounced. Now, it happens occasionally, not near as often.
Well, I had oral surgery last week. The surgeon pretty well butchered my gum, cutting and yanking out tiny pieces of tooth and root from the deep hole that used to hold a tooth and crown. He even had to put stitches in my gum, on the OUTSIDE of my gums, NOT to stitch up the hole (where I now have a temporary bridge) Altho it's been extremely painful, I'm not asking for any sympathy here, I'd just like to know what it is I'm feeling.
Anyway, I am having the same tingling, or pins and needles, or buzzing type feelings in my jaw and mostly my chin -- near the area of the surgery, but not in that area exactly -- it is inside my skin in the general area. Almost the same as it feels when your foot goes to sleep, w/ a buzzing kind of feeling.
I have been on abx since the surgery. I still have pain and am not healed, but I don't see signs of infection.
I have had minor surgeries before and fair share of minor wounds, and I don't recall ever having these tingling feelings. I've had itching, healing wounds, but not this. I know it's impossible to tell from written word what it is, but I am wondering if what I'm feeling has anything to do w/ the Lyme?
Is this feeling infection? or is it a healing feeling? Does anyone even know what I'm talking about?
It just feels so strange I felt compelled to ask others here, even tho I know most of you are experiencing much more serious problems. It just doesn't feel like anything I've felt before and because of my thumb, it seems to have something to do w/ wounds or healing or infection. I will probably call the dentist (NOT that surgeon!) when my abx are gone, but meantime am wondering if it's anything to be concerned about, as I do NOT want any deep infections, like my thumb was, in my mouth or inside my face!
ps: my entire mouth 'burns' and throbs, but did this before the dental surgery.
