It was not one of my first symptoms. Started during my mepron/zith treatment. I know James said he has this,too. It is a constant tickle in my throat. No cold, allergies or anything. Lyme symptom or Babs? I tested negative for babs but I think doc thinks I may have it. My worst pain is my neck and back of my head. What do you guys think?

i honestly think mine is due to hiv. that might sound scary, but after looking in the mirror with a flashlight, i noticed alot of tiny white bumps on the back of my tongue which prolly lead down to the esoughas. which i think i have a yeast infection due to hiv..


it could be both though.. only time will tell to what i have.

Why do you think it is HIV? I thought all of your symptoms started after that tick bite. If we look at symptoms for any disease or condition all of us can say we may find something on the list that we have. That doesn't mean you have it. Even with Lyme, the list of symptoms is endless. I think everyone in the world suffers from something on that list. I think it is the whole picture you need to look at. And you were bit by a tick. Don't worry yourself sick. Were you exposed to HIV that you need to worry about it??? Were you tested? Hang in there.

i could've been exposed 4 years ago, to a random girl i met at a dance club. my g/f of a year is neg. she was tested 6 months ago..

there is just no way i feel this bad and my wbc count is dropping without it being hiv.. i've already told myself i have it also.. i'm convinced..

my EIA test only shows no antibodies to lyme, not hiv.. so they didn't look for hiv...

Your WBC could be low with the Lyme, too. You are worrying yourself sick. I have the SAME cough as you and I have lyme. It can mess your head up real bad. I remember before I was bring treated:
-fine one minute, feeling like breaking plates the next.
-convinced I had RA even thought my finger was swollen when it wasn't
-crying all of the time
-anger towards everyone around me cuz they didn't understand.

Since I have been in treatment my head feels so much better. The only time I really feel the "crazy brain" is when I am herxing. It does get better. You need to call a LLMD and get your answers. It is scary I know but I really feel with the history of your tick bite you r dealing with Lyme. Call them, will you????

James, do you know that your WB showed no lyme antibodies? Who did the test? Have you seen your results? Do you have them? If you have them, or will get them, why don't you let us know what the test shows. We can't make a diagnosis, of course, but it might show something of significance? I apologize if you have already posted those results.

the EIA wb test just says "no antibodies found"

and i found out today that quest only test for 2 strands of lyme.. and there are 300 strands....


just curious... if antibodies are in your system for something.. would it show for other antibody tests? even though lyme is lyme, lupus is lupus, hiv is hiv, but they and plus more show antibodies.. can a simple lyme antibody test detect other possible diseases

I could be totally wrong on this one...please someone chime in if I am way off.

The Western Blot test for Lyme measures the weight of different parts of the bacteria which is a spirochete. Now, some bands are considered very specific for Lyme. (my doc said they all are).
It is kind of like a pregnancy test strip. (good analogy???hmmm) when the lab tests your blood it is looking to see if your blood was exposed to any of these "bacteria parts." if it has, the band will react positive. I guess + or +++ may indicate how dark the strip got. Igenex reports bands that are indeterminite. This means a faint line appears. Not negative though. This is why most Lyme docs think the IND bands are like a weak positive.

When you test the antibodies they are only reacting against a bb infection(Lyme).

The problem in Lyme is that it doesn't hang out in the blood too long. Therefore the tests are really inaccurate. I think 60% test negative anyway. And I thought the HIV test was pretty acurate. You said your girlfriend tested negative, right?? I think(could be wrong on this point,too) that transmition is more likely from man to woman.????

I don't think it sounds like you had the WB test.

yeah, i dunno, it just sounds like it was the ELISA test...

g/f said she did her yearly check up and they drew blood, she is type 1 diabetic and she said she signed the papers for hiv test and it came back neg..

this was about 6 months after we started having intercourse.. i always think of magic johnson though... i remember his press conference, saying i'm hiv positive but my wife is negative... so yeah, more than likely, i could have it and not pass it.. chances might be slim, but hey, if it comes down to it and i'm another magic, and she is neg.. that is good for her and my mind.. sounds weird. don't want to be infected either.. but i don't want anyone else infected on my part.
