Just checking in again, so I have not read the new posts yet. But thought I'd update this latest 'escapade', cause I need to thank those who responded & I have a question.
I am sorry about yanking him off. I could not see his parts well enough to use tweezers on his head and feared I would squeeze the wrong part. I was struggling w/ my little tick removal tool and he started kicking his legs and the more I struggled, the more I feared he'd poison me, so that was that.
Ticker, I am realizing that you are right about the attachment. This little MF could not have been on me very long at all. I've got teeny tiny little fang marks, and the bite is not red, but very pink and it's itching like crazy. I'm not saying that means he gave me a disease, but obviously he transferred something to me that caused this itch -- maybe I am allergic to tick saliva or the anesthetic they put in you before they bite. My last known bite itched like this too.
You know, when they say that ticks inject you w/ the anesthetic before they latch on, doesn't that kind of prove they are giving you a little unwanted gift right off the bat, even before they attach?
LLMD called me in a script of Doxy (no, I had not started treatment yet -- he had wanted to see results of all lab work before deciding what to prescribe, but he agreed I should start something now). I think the nurse said I was to take a dose twice per day for 4 weeks. When I filled the script, it says 100 mg twice per day for 4 weeks, but there's 60 pills.
Reading Dr. Burr's guides, he mentions this dose, but also says higher doses are preferable (or something like that). I think I've seen many of you complain about 100 mgs of Doxy twice per day -- that it's not enough. So I don't know if he had really intended me to take more than 1 at a time or what.
And actually, I hated my first dose, so I'm hoping only 2 per day is correct. No dairy and no calcium 2 hrs before and 2 hrs after? Moi?? I sandwich everything w/ my beloved Rolaids and milk. So, of course my very horrid heartburn came on and there I was w/o my Rolaids and/or milk. I wanted to throw it up so bad, but held back so I wouldn't have to take another one. (I will look at OTC meds tomorrow to see what I might take before the Doxy.) The stomach upset/heartburn lasted 1 hr 45 min, so at least it passed. This keeps up, tho, and I might have to ask for Amox.
Anyway, what do you think about the dosage? I do not go back to Dr again til the end of this month.
Almost forgot to say how sorry I am about Martha's experiences -- with her child. How horrifying!! Thank goodness you knew what you knew!
And I'm very sorry for everyone's experiences here! Right now, w/ this new bite, I'm more mad than anything, so that's OK.
