The nurse who comes to my home just told me about one of her patients who became sick and tested positive for lyme after being bitten by mosquitos.  He actually lost sight in one eye but after two weeks of IV treatment has regained sight again. 

I have no recollection of a tick bite or rash and have always suspected it came from mosquito bites I got back in my 20's.    

I do want to mention that she never mentions names, locations or personal information but does share limited information from case histories with me.

In my opinion, Lyme can come from any insect that bites of sucks blood. I still think I got infected from fleas.

i dont disagree with you, but just pic what this means to the rest of the world. they need to buzz around some folks i know..lol j/k

I agree, lol. I think the world would be in a state of panic if they knew they could get Lyme this way.

JMHO, if the word was out and everything we know was available to the genarel pulbic then it would be a state of panic for sure. maybe this is why they try to hide it. cause there is always someone to blame.

The scary thing is they can. It's frigthening to think where all of this will lead. I think that's the reason the gov't. and IDSA are trying to keep it under wraps. They do know.

I think so too. RD has a book about some kind of experiment they did with Lyme. I soooooo want to read it.

my doc asked me how long the tick was on me for, i just said over 2 days i think.. even though i had no idea, because i was scared to say, "i don't remember a tick" he would've brushed it off as a bug bite or me bumping myself on something...


i think it would take 12hrs from what i've read to infect a person.. so i would think mosquitos wouldn't transmit, but who really knows.. as much as i love spring/fall.. and i thought in a miillon light years i would never say this, but i might think about moving somewhere like canada

From what I've been told, Ticks can transmit as soon as they latch on and Mosquitoes were trasmitting West Nile Virus. This is just my opinion of course but I think its possible.

james the only safe place is in a bubble. canada is high risk for it also from all i have read. hey you can move to my parts as the Dr. here say there is no lyme here, hehe

i think they are misgiulded on the amount of time of the bit. think about it. as soon as the tick bits you he is able to injeck into you whateve it has. in the movie it shows a bit its like you exhail by in inhail. so i wouldnt belive anything a Dr. says. JMHO

CG, the name of the book is LAB 257 by Michael Christopher Carroll. it belonges to shawn. she loaned it to me. but the print is to small for me to read it. if it was mine to give i would send it to you. so sorry :(

I have the book but have been unable to read it. My ex tried to borrow the book months ago and I almost bit his head off because I was going to start that day. Well, so far I've only gotten through a few pages and don't remember what I've read so I guess I'll have to start over again. LOL

I did read about the experiments and believe every bit of it is true. They were conducted on Plum Island which is located a few miles from Suffolk County on Long Island in New York. That's where I was born and spent quite a bit of time when I was child. Who knows?

I've read many times that a tick must be attached for at least 24 hours. Who comes up with this BS? Give me a break. Ticks can penetrate the skin and 'latch' on very quickly. Therefore, I can't imagine it takes long for lyme to be spread following a tick bit (especially if the tick isn't properly removed).

It bothers me that SO many 'credible' websites have inaccurate information on this illness.

I think the jury is still out on whether lyme can be spread by 'vectors' other than ticks. I haven't come across any research that has looked at this possibility. Any one else come across any published evidence that indicates lyme can be spread by other insects? I don't think we should jump to conclusions (at this point). However, it is interesting to speculate that it may be possilbe. For example, Babesia is know to be transmitted by ticks. On the other hand, a very similiar parasite (plasmodium) is transmitted by mosquito bite. Perhaps Babesia and Plasmodium can be spread by both vectors.

I don't think anyone is jumping to conclusions. We are basically just talking. In my opinion though, I think other vectors can spread it. It is also a FACT that they have found Lyme in chiggers.

good old red bugs..lol lucky to say i was never bit by one of them. but i have had more then my shair of tick bits, and just tonight the skitters were fisting on my face :(

but chiggers never did like me :)

In PJ Langoff's book, "The Bakers Dozen and the Lunatic Fringe - Has Junk Science Shifted the Lyme Disease paradigm?", Chapter 2 is dedicated to "Modes of Transmission". pages 51-66.

Page 52 shows "Anecodotal Evidence of Mosquito-Transmitted Lyme". It shows a picture of a little girl with 5 mosquito bites and within a week there are 5 bulls eye rashes where each bite was.

Page 63 of same chapter "Other Insect Vectors Transmit Lyme Disease".

At the back of the book PJ lists by chapter and section all of her references for the book. The references alone go from page 474 to 526.

Wow, this is so scary! And altho I posted this somewhere else, I would like to emphasize it again. Regarding how long a tick would have to be attached to transmit its disease: I have read anywhere from 12-48 hrs.

I personally, factually, know this to be false. The tick that I had attached on Wed of last week could NOT possibly have been attached for 2 hrs, in fact, that's the longest window of time I'm willing to give it, because I believe it was less than that! Whether it was the anesthesia that it injected to prevent me from feeling the bite, or whether it was his saliva to which I had an allergic reaction, it injected SOMETHING. Because I still have a small sore, surrounded by pink and it STILL itches like CRAZY.

So it makes NO SENSE at all that they must be attached for any longer period of time to infect you -- because they HAVE injected into you stuff from inside their nasty, little bacteria infested MF bodies.

WHEN is someone going to gather this valuable evidence from us and freaking USE it to help people???
