fibrogal, I cannot believe your doctor would not test you for Lyme. What an idiot and why not.
End of May after running a high fever for three days while trying to get out of bed slid to the floor and could not get up.....went to the hospital by ambulance.
IV antibiotics for four days and no fever I was released only to be readmitted 12 days later in the same condition. An infectious disease doctor ordered all kinds of blood tests. I asked her if she had included Lyme and she said no so I asked her if she would test for it, she agreed. Four days later she came to my room and announced I did indeed have Lyme Disease. Because she agreed to test me I was able to caught in stage one and probably late stage one because I still have fatigue and tremors, but nothing compared to what my fellow posters are going through because of late diagnosis.
I had Lyme ten years ago, saw the bulls eye, was tested and started Doxycycline the same day, was sick only one day with a fever.
Makes me sick to think your doctor would not order that test for you. Time is critical with this terrible disease.
I live in Eastern PA actually in a heavily wooded area in the Philadelphia suburbs and there is a very high incidence of Lyme. I think everyone running a fever of unknown origin should have Lyme included in their blood test. I would demand it.
