Hi,
I got a bite a few weeks ago in California. I got a 2" oval rash around the bite lasting two weeks, and have been having flu-like symptoms ever since. I never found the offending tick, but I am certain it's a tick bite.
I went to my doc and she without hesitation gave me a 2-week supply of Doxy (100 mg 2x daily). She also gave me a refill, so I can potentially treat for 28 days. Yay!
I have had no bloodwork done, but wanted meds based on the bite/rash/symptoms. Do you think I should do all 28 days, or is less than that okay? As I said, I got the bite pretty recently.
Thanks all! :)

form all i have read you should be on doule the dose, 400mg to 600mg a day and for at least 6 weeks. sounds like you have a Dr who is willing to work with you. maybe you can call them up and let them know whats best and see if they will up the dose and make it for 2 months.
good luck,

Good Doc for starting you on Doxy, but not too informed on Lyme...most aren't.
RottenDog is right it's very important to double the dose and extend the time.

And, if the doc you are seeing won't give you the right dosages, or the right meds - you MUST find one that can & will.
That's actually what I find the hardest to do, as my doc is a really wonderful doc. When I first started seeing him, he didn't believe
there was such a thing as chronic LD. Although after having me as a patient for a yr, he actually gave me the dx of chronic
Lyme. So there's always hope until you hit the proverbial brick wall.
Good luck with it all!!
May you find healing & peace~
