Hi all,
I have not done this cleanse yet but plan on doing it soon, I read it in an old magazine (kept this magazine because one of the headlines on the front cover was DETOX, LOL!):
It says a gallbladder healing cleanse is right for you if you suffer from weight gain, fatigue and two or more of the following symptoms of an overburdened gallbladder:
1. Belly bloat at the end of the day (I have belly bloat all the time!)
2. Gas, indigestion, diarrhea and/or cramping in the upper-right abdomen
3. Frequent pain between your shoulders
Here are the instructions:
1. Sip hot lemon water mid afternoon
Juice half a lemon into 12 oz. hot water. "Hot water and fruit acids loosen mucus, cleansing the liver and gallbladder," says Elson Haas, M.D. author of The New Detox Diet. "And water hydrates to ease the midday cravings that can hinder a detox."
2. Flavor veggies with "Better Butter"
Blend 1 cup virgin olive oil and 1 cup organic butter (I would use regular butter). Cover and refrigerate. At lunch and dinner eat 1 bowl steamed mixed veggies with 1 Tablespoon Better Butter. Studies show that olive oil's oleic acids improve liver and gallbladder health.
3. Drink Veggie Broth Throughout the Day
Ward off hunger by sipping the water collected from steamed veggies. (Season it with veggie or garlic salt and reheat.) The vitamins and minerals in the broth heal gallbladder and liver cells. "It's like taking a powerful detox pill," says Dr. Haas.
Cleanse in a Nutshell:
In addition to the above, start the day with fruit and cooked whole grains (oatmeat, millet, brown rice) with Better Butter. For lunch and dinner, eat a bowl of steamed veggies. Include a 4 oz. fish, poultry or beans at dinner.
That's it!
