Another Loss of Taste Update

I am/was on the Buhner protocol, I re-started the Andrographis because Stephen Buhner said he didn't believe it was the Andrographis that was causing my lessening of taste (not a total loss of taste).  Well soon after re-starting the Andrographis it came back.  I have stopped the Andrographis for now and continue to take the Cat's Claw which I have never had a bad reaction too.  I may try to restart the Resveratrol at a later date, but thought this might be helpful to anyone else on, or thinking about the Buhner protocol.  I would love to hear others experience with Andrographis, doses, positive effects/negative effects, etc.

The first time it happened was after I had built up to the 4pills 4x/day.  I had been at that dose for over 1 week I think.  I first stopped the Andrographis because that's what some of the herb experts I contacted thought it might be.  When I finally found a way to reach Stephen Buhner personally he said it definately wasn't the Andrographis and was probably the Resveratrol, so I stopped that too.  My tasted started to come back by that time and so I thought it was the Resveratrol.  I then started up on the Andrograhis again and before I even got to the max dose it happened again.  It's too bad because I was herxing on the protocol.  He said it could take 4 weeks for your taste to come back.  He said that it something like 2% of people taking Resveratrol that have that kind of reaction, but it sounds like he never had someone have that reaction taking the Andrographis.  I guess I'm just "special" LOL.

I was taking Neuro Science GI Reset a few weeks after a friend of mine started the six week protocol. It contains 75mg of Andrographois. about four weeks into the protocol she experienced a complete loss of taste. The same thing happened with me around the same time line. We both lost our ability to taste so profoundly that it was impossible to taste the difference between a lemon or chocolate cake! While temporary, it took the better part of a month for the taste to come back completely! I asked the Neuro Science company that makes this product and while they are aware of this side effect, it is not mentioned on their literature anywhere. I struggled for weeks trying to find an answer as to my loss of taste and it was very upsetting! Fortunately I finally tracked down the cause of my taste loss and stopped taking the GI Reset. My friends taste has come back but since I was a few weeks behind her on the protocol, I am still waiting for mine to return.

Hello! It is 2017, and I have just lost my sense of taste too - I am on Bruhner's protocol, and have been taking Andrographis - 2 pills per day for a month, I think. I am quite worried. I stopped tasting salt and sugar. Not completely, but quite a bit. Did your sense of taste came back completely? How long did it take for it to come back? I am definitely stop taking Androprahis immediately.

I experienced loss of taste after taking the Japanese Knotweed tincture. I stopped it for a bit and my sense of taste came back within about a week. Eventually, I restarted it at a lower dose and did not have that issue. I've also taken the powder form without experiencing that issue.
