I tested positive for Lyme mid-July. (2 bands positive, IGG negative) Per my labs, I was exposed very recently. I had symptoms of extreme fatigue, dizziness, lightheadedness, "brain fog", low grade fever and just being completely run down. Doc put me on Ceftin for 21 days (500 mg 2x/day). 10 days into meds I started feeling ALOT ALOT better. High energy, felt great. After I finished meds I felt tired again but not to level of before. Doc re-tested me 1 week after meds - test was exactly the same. IGG still negative by the way.
Doc referred me to infectious dis. specialist. I went today. She feels lyme is "gone". That since I was recently exposed, Ceftin was plenty to rid of it. I feel good and seem to get better each week. I can work out, run, do daily activities and not need a nap :) She said the 2 bands may show positive on tests for months or even years since I HAD Lyme.
Hubby feels I should seek LMDD or go to Hopkins to be sure. I feel significantly better and not sick. Every now and then I have a tired day, but nothing that extreme.
She explained that since my IGG never even elevated, I was never "chronic" and we caught it early. Does this make any sense??? Should I "wait and see"? Or fork out the money to see the specialist?
