Hi. I am new to this site. Last month I was diagnosed with Lyme disease, babesia, and two strains of bartonella. Unfortunately, mine seems to be a typical story. I've been sick for years, saw many doctors and specialists, had an ever increasing list of physical maladies despite living a healthy lifestyle, underwent a multitude of tests, suffered more than I can ever adequately describe, spent every spare cent and then some pursuing the elusive goal of health, and failed to get properly diagnosed. What saved me was an article about
Lyme in a local newspaper. That prompted me to see a GP and ask for a Western Blot test. The doctor, who thankfully humored me even though he didn't think the test was necessary, gave me the lab slip and said I could take it to any local lab. I didn't. I took it to IgenX (lyme literate lab). By that time I at least knew enough to find a LLMD and even though my appointment with him was still weeks away, I had the IgenX results sent to both the requesting physician and the LLMD. Soon I heard back from the LLMD saying the test was positive but needed to be verified, and then two weeks later I heard from the GP who ordered the test that it was negative.
Welcome to the world of Lyme disease. Nothing about this disease seems straightforward.
I am glad I found this site and have been reading the bulletin boards. I look forward to learning more and, as I go through my journey to health, sharing my experience.
