Hi Everyone: I have trouble with dehydration. It does not matter now much I drink, its seems like my body does not absorb it somehow. I was wondering how many of you suffer from dehydration and what you did to help it. Thanks D

Dowa,
Have you tried Pedialyte yet? Maybe it's more of an electrolyte imbalance.

Hi CG: Last lab results were normal for electrolytes. Have not tried Pedialyte, is it like Gatorade? Thanks -D

It's a whole lot better than Gatoraid. No sugars. It is also used for dehydration. It's mostly used when children get sick and can't eat but adults can drink it too.

Caffeine will dehydrate you... Also, electrolytes can be imbalanced even though they show "normal" on a blood test. Magnesium, for example, is very hard to really measure because blood levels do not reflect tissue levels at all. Also, inflammation of mucus membranes can increase water loss and cause the sensation of needing more water. And Lyme can cause Sicca Syndrome (aka Sjogren's Syndrome), which is dryness of the mouth and eyes.
I think it would be worth it to try the Pedialyte and see what happens. Good luck,

Dowa,
I'm new here (just joined today) and haven't even posted an introductory msg yet but I have every symptom of encephalomyelitis which has spinal cord involvement which causes urinary problems. I am constantly thirsty and can't get enough to drink. Before Lyme, I hardly drank water during the day yet urinated every 2 hours. Now, I drink a ton and hardly ever urinate, hence the dehydration.

Hi Tracy: Do your doctors think the Lyme is causing the dehydration? Thanks D
