Well, now along with being treated for LD I recently got my results back from a heavy metals test. My lead levels are 3x what they should be and my mercury levels 2x, so my doc is recommending chelation therapy. Has anyone had chelation therapy while being treated for LD? I am currently on Doxy and Ceftin along with various supplements and was hoping someone out there has gone through this. Any input is greatly appreciated.

I'm still waiting for the results of my heavy metals test. I'm curious, how was your test done? My LLMD was going to give me two medications "to draw out the metals" and then have me collect urine for six hours for analysis. When I balked at the prospect of taking the meds, he switched to taking a hair sample. They took a lot more hair than I had anticipated. I have a friend with Lyme whose doctor gave her a blood test for heavy metals. I'm wondering which test is more accurate.

Rose,
The hair analysis you did is probably more accurate. Heavy metals, lead, arsenic, drugs, etc. all stay deposited on your hair. It's better to collect it closer to the root.

Blood tests are notoriously inaccurate for assessing tissue levels of heavy metals (among other things). Hair analysis is a much better test for tissue heavy metal levels.
Good luck,

I did the urine test. I have an appointment on Thursday with a doc who does chelation, so I will probably ask her about
doing a hair analysis before we proceed. Thanks for the input.

Well, they certainly did take my hair sample at the root - I now have a bald spot on the back of my head. I'm told it doesn't look as big as it feels when I reach back there and run my finger over the wiffle-fuzz that used to be my hair.
