Please help so confused

HI All, It's true that LD can cause other auto immune diseases right? I have Ulcertive colitis.

I've been bleeding on and off for 5 years, more on than off, and I know I need to take my UC meds, but gosh I feel so medicated to death since start myLD protocol, that's it hard for me to swallow these Apriso pills, time released mesmaline.

My questions are:

Can antibiotics make your tendons week? I had a slipped disc over the weekend, never felt it happened just my leg was so sore I went to emergency. I did alot of roller bladding and working out lately, maybe this caused it. But it happened the same day I started my UC meds and there's probably not a corrolation, but maybe there is. Maybe just my head playing games with me.

Does anyone take Mesmamline such as Asacol, Colozol, Pentasa, Apriso while they are taking antibiotics? They are anti inflammatories for the gut or sometimes used rumatoid arthritis.

I started adding in Flagly, got up to 3 tablets a day they are 250 mg each and boy or boy, crying spells, depression, fatigue, irritablness, it just seemed like a took a HUGE step backwards, so I quit taking it. I got up to 5 days straight on it at max dose. What should I do? Any one have these symptoms?

I'm taking a weekly shot of Bicillin, zithromax 250mg every day and my supplements. Any support, suggestions would help. I feel so sad about taking my UC meds because the side effects scare me! I don't have renal failure or anything like that, but why do they made medication with potentional harmful side effects????

Some antibiotics can mess your tendons up. The fluoroquinolones (Levaquin, Cipro, etc.) are known for causing tendon problems. If you get sore/weak tendons while on them, tell your doctor right away.

But Lyme disease can also mess them up! Before I figured out I had Lyme disease, I was at the point where I just thought I had "defective" teondons. But- as a note- every doctor I saw asked if I had every been on Levaquin (or Cipro etc.) Not every one who takes them does get tendon problems, but that made me kind of wary.

With Flagyl, my doctor has me pulsing it. I started off doing 2 weeks on, 2 weeks off. The first two weeks were tough, but I tried to stick it out, because my doctor thought it could really help me. I know people here have different opinions on herxing, and I won't say it's necessary that you herx, but I will say that I didn't want to quit just because I was herxing, since I hoped the long term benefits would outweigh the discomfort.

I am now on Flagyl for 5 days on and 2 days off, and Zithromax, and I too feel like I have taken a step backwards. Not sure if it is the addition of the Zithromax, changing my Flagyl schedule, or what. My method of dealing with most things is to close my eyes, push through and hope for the best, so that's probably what I'll end up doing here. Of course, a smarter idea might be to talk to your doctor about your concerns (but who said I was smart). He/She might have ideas about the tendons and the other things.
