Any help appreciated

Hi,

My son has an advanced case of Lymes, which was mis-diagnosed for about 5 years.  Since then, he has taken about a year of oral antibiotics, which destroyed his stomach and digstive system.  he then went on about a 6-8 month IV antibiotic tratment which worsened his condition, causing severe neurological tremors, paralysis of 1 eye, double vision, etc.

One Neurologist has recomended Gamma Globulin.  Has anyone out there used this successfully?  We are concerned that if there are any bad side effects, it could cause his already delicate condition to worsen.

Any help or information wuld be appreciated.

Sorry to hear that your Son has been dealing with this for so long.

I have not had this treatment however, my neurologist did recommended IVIG as he believes that my autoimune system is out of whack. My significant symptoms are neuropathy and brain fog. My LLMD currently has me on high dose antibiotics, but I will consider the immunogobulin treatment if the abx are not effective.

From what I have read, immunogobulin is a blood product created from as many as 10,000 donors. There are some risks and potential side effects which you can find by Googling IVIG Therapy. I was told that the IVIG would be administered once per day for five straight days at the infusion center at my local hospital at a cost of $10,000. You might want to find out if this is covered by insurance.

My daughter who is graduating from nursing school next month also informed me of a different plasma therapy that cycles your own blood through a machine which removes the antibodies before returning into your system. I'm not sure what the risks or costs are compared to the IVIG.

My neurologist did mention that he has read about lyme patients that have had good success with this treatment.

By the way, have you tried detox baths or drinking tons of water, cutting out sugar, caffeine, all of these have helped me.
