After the usual drawn out ordeal with Social Security, I finally got approved! The best news is that I felt "pushed" to have the eligibility approval based on mental health issues but refused. I know that having the eligibility based on Lyme or Chronic Lyme is very difficult. I stated that I would agree that my primary disability is chronic Lyme with cognative difficulties due to a brain infection!

After 2 years, my approval arrived last week! turn   It reads disability due to Lyme disease with secondary medical complications as a direct result of  Lyme Disease!

Anyone else aware of approvals based on Lyme Disease?

So glad for you. you have probably set a precedence for those upcoming lyme sufferers! Thanks for having the courage to prevail and hope you feel better soon.

My Medicare approval was based on a Lyme coding which basically interpets as = chronic post-lyme syndrome. I was also dx'ed with Fybromyalgia, Chronic fatigue, Depression and Generalized Anxiet disorder..... but the Lyme was listed first.

CONGRATULATIONS to you and also Jelaine. Good luck Patti...I know it's so much easier said than done but try not to worry and just hope for the best. The process can be so frustrating and very stressful!

I am going thru it now. First ssdi dhs dr is a psychologist. I am scaed. in the past i just tried to tell what has happened to have drs mischaracterize me. the last few days i have been swinging between very depressed and very angry. on amoxicillin 4 weeks now. tired of jumping thru hoops. thank you for persevering, gives me hope. I'm just reluctant to say i have lyme since I have not seen llmd yet and IGenexresult was negatve but with IND lyme bands. I always want to tel the truth but not sure what to do. I am being treated for lyme even though have not seen llmd yet (dr consulted with my pcp and togeher they agreed to start treatment(.

So many just dont understand the complexities of this illness. I am anxious that i might be too sick weds and not be able to wake for an early apmt or i might be havibg a good day and will look and sound as though I have no issues. I dont understand why I am seeinf a psychologist...is this what everyone des? M medcal eval is sched for end of month. since I am in a state and community that only has one confirmeds case of lyme 2 years ago I am not opptpmistic.

They always send to psych first...that's part of the process for ssdi...

Oh my, that's amazing news. My lawyer, even though she had had acute Lyme herself, said, "No way, Jose" to using Lyme as a dx.

And while SSDI recognizes Fibro. and CFS, it's hard to get Disability based even on those diagnoses.

I hope people are starting to open their eyes and ears a bit.
