Hi, For those of you that have eye pain did you have an eye exam, and did anything show up?  What type of Dr. did you see?  Also,  do you think it's related to LD or some other co-infection?  My eyes have also been twitching (the eyelid not under my eye so it makes reading or focusing my eyes hard.

I've had multiple eye exams. The only thing they find is problems with allergies (eye-lid swelling/irritation), dry eye (that nasty test where the stick a piece of special paper in the eye...ouch!), and of course my nearsightedness & astigmatism (which fluctuates from day to day...thanks probably to the Lyme).
I've seen Opthalmologists, Optometrists, and Neuro-Opthalmologists. Results are always the same.

Are you taking magnesium?
Homeopathic Belladonna (make sure it is homeopathic and not the herb itself!) may help with the twitching eyelid.

My eyes hurt, mainly from light sensitivity. They have been really miserable lately due to being in the car more during a trip (too much sun) and stress. I had an eye exam with an opthalmologist, but because of the pain, I would not let him dilate my eyes. The exam itself was painful when he shown that little light in my eyes. He said everything looked fine. I did not test positive for co-infections, but my llmd thought I may have had bartonella, based on symptoms.

I have had the twitching eyelid come and go, too.

Rest helps. Using the computer makes it worse.

Last year I had severe eye pain in my right eye only. I saw the opthamologist and she diagnosed me with lyme related iritis and prescribed 30 days of amoxicillin and steroid eye drops. It cleared up after about a week. It was strange to me that this happened just as I was completing my initial course of doxycyline. So, I went from doxycycline to amoxicillin and then onto IV-Rocephin. The pain felt like someone had punched me in the eye.

I had an unusual event with that same eye about a month later while on IV-Rocephin. While driving to work on the highway, I noticed what seemed to be a straight line imperfection in my windshield. It looked like it had a crack in the glass. More and more of these cracks appeared until my right eye vision became totally blurred and my right peripheral vision went totally black. This lasted about twenty minutes and then completely resolved.

My neurologist scheduled a brain MRI right away which came back normal. My opthamologist continued to monitor my eye sight for about six months. Not sure what caused this except for the fact that I had just flushed my picc line with saline and heparine prior to driving to work.

If you have eye pain, you should see an Opthamologist right away.

My left eye gets suddenly red and irritated for the past four years (prior to diagnosis) and have had painful stabbing pains and twitching in both eyes. I now get blurriness in both eyes. I have been to optomologist and neuro-Opt. Said optic nerve fine but upper and lower eye lids both swollen probably from lyme or coinfection bacteria. I have been using drops for a month but still there. Very annoyed because I use computer at work and love to read. I did test positive for bartonella which eye problems are common with. Ugh.
