Found out my Lyme is old, not new like I thought :(

Just went to the closest thing to a LLMD that I have here in Orlando, who by the way seemed highly knowledgable and helpful. I thought I had it all figured out though, I thought that I knew when I was infected and where. Come to find out, my Lyme is already in cystic form. So, went from thinking that I caught it early (5 weeks) to finding out that I have had it for some time now. Quite a bit to take in!  He started me on 400mg of Doxy for 3-4 months with weekly IV treatments of Rocephin. Hope this works!! Has anyone ever had the test done that can closer pinpoint the time of infection? Guess it doesn't really matter at this point, just kinda curious. Thanks for all of the help that is given on this site, it has helped greatly. I hope as I get futher into this, that I will have the knowledge to help and inform as you do.  Thanks...Jeff

Jeff, I am also VERY interested in learning how your Doc determined it was in cystic form? AND, do we have any kind of a time frame in which Lyme goes into cysts?

I ask because I now know I had some type of TBI in 1972, but it must have eventually resolved (and NEVER felt like this!), and because my current infection began around MOther's Day 2007. So, I'd like to know if LYme turns into those naughty little cysts within a 3 yr period, or must it be older.

And HOW can one learn if it is currently in cystis form?

From what I've been told by My Dr. and Dr. H at the lab, if bands 83-93 show up + on your IgM that it is most likely in cystic form. The timeline that I was given was atleast 1 year but possibly more.

Yep, seemed like alot of meds to me to, but I guess you need to be pretty aggresive if you want a chance of winning.

Not really sure how long I have had it, really thought it was new. Born and raised in Orlando Florida. Don't hunt, rarely camp, but it got me somehow!

I was having some serious fatigue, odd muscle cramps and random joint pains.  Primary thought I was dehydrated, then it was Fibromyalgia. Neighbor from Virginia said " It sounds like Lyme to me" So I checked it out, symtoms matched, had the Igenex test and here we are.

Thanks and no I have not even heard of or been tested for "HTB"

Can yu pease email me theOrlando doctor you are seeing. My family is there and now they have no excuse NOT to get tested.

that seems likea lot of meds at once going out the gate. keep us posted how you do on the doxcy.

so how long do you think you have this? are you origionally from up north?

what made you get tested? was it rhumitologic, neurologic? what symptoms were you having ?

this is best forum for support while going through all this and lot of very informed people.
