Hi does anyone have any experience with Lyme and children?
My son developed the rash 5 weeks ago and the doctors still say he doesn't have it. We pushed & have him on a 2 week dose of 250mg of Amoxicylin.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Welcome AAC!   I wish I could give you advice but I never had children..  Hopefully someone who has had children will come along and post.. 

Perhaps post your question to Jeminij as she has had experience with this I believe..

Welcome to our forum!! I am sorry that you have need of the info that is here, but I am sure you will find the people here to be helpful, supportive, and caring. We also have quite a few different perspectives on tick-born illnesses & treatments for them.

I don't know much about the issue of LD & kids, but maybe we could still be of help if you were to ask a few more specific questions rather than just a general question???

As for the rash, only about 40% of those infected with LD ever have the rash & it's considered - by more knowledgeable Lyme Docs - to be a sure sign of Lyme. You were right to push for abx!!

You should post the general area in which you live, and ask for an LLMD in the area, here on HW. I sure wouldn't mess around with anyone else if my child showed clear evidence of a tick born illness!!

Welcome, AAC. And I am sorry for the reason that brought you here.

You said your your son had 'the rash'.  Do you mean that he had a bull's eye rash?  I am not a Dr.  However, everything I have read, EVERYTHING, conventional vs nonconventional, states that there is nothing ELSE that causes a bull's eye rash.  Altho most people who contract Lyme do not get this rash, this rash ALWAYS means Lyme.

Until you are able to find a Lyme Literate Dr, I would strongly advise that you take him to a Dr who at least knows what a bull's eye rash is, and understands the urgency required for treatment.
