sad Hi I've been on cleocin/clindamyacin and have been doing great or at least better than I was but all of a sudden I don't feel well, heart palpatations,leg pains, and just plain lousy.

could this be a herx? also it's very hot right now a real hot spell could the hot weather effect me.

Hi. I've never been sure how to differentiate between a herx and a flare, but as I understand it, in either event toxins are a primary cause of symptoms so my response to getting increased symptoms is to make sure I am doing things to help clear my body of toxins. The detox baths are great as is an IR sauna (though for you, if heat is at issue, it would be a good idea to use caution with a sauna). Drinking a lot of water to keep my system flushed. Some supplements I have tried when I get the symptoms you have (and I get them all) are magnesium and potassium. I do not eat a "normal" diet, and I tend to be low in both of those. I've read that many people with Lyme are low in magnesium; I don't know about potassium.

Also, because I have had drug reactions in the past, I also check with my LLMD or pharmacist to see if my symptoms could be the result of the prescription.

I think this is hear till I die or god heals me. Do you ever get sick of the whole thing.

The pills the IV's the vitamins the Dr's. sorry I guess I'm just having a bad day.

I just wanted to throw this out there, Rose. My naturopathic has cautioned against one type of oral magnesium because it feeds the spirochetes. I use a topical called Magenederm when I can't do a bath with Epsom salts. I'll try to see if I have in my notes somewhere what kind of oral magnesium she said was better.

((Marlene)) - I was sooooo there last week. I took over 70 pills in one day and had been feeling really run down the week prior and the current week. this week has been better though. 2 weeks ago I was so down that I just kept think "I'm going to die from this." but here I am a couple weeks out and I had a great weekend last weekend as was really functional - only took one nap and kept up with my kids really well at a waterpark nonetheless. So we know there's ups and downs with this but the overall impact of our treatments is going to lead us to better. We'll get there! I'm so sorry you're having a bad time of it right now!! ((HUG))

Mainegirl,

Sounds like a Herx to me - how long have you been on the antibiotics you're currently taking? The weather DEFINITELY effects me...and I get sick of ALL of this EVERY single day...you are not alone.

Please take my advice and try some vitamin C - I've gotten to the point where I just pop them like candy when I'm feeling bad. It sounded like a joke at first and I got REALLY sick of calling my doctor's office, only to get a call back saying, "take vitamin C" for the umpteenth time, but it DOES help.

I deal with horrible, excruciating leg pain every day...as well as constant sweating and hot flashes, and a host of other symptoms... Hang in there!

allie I know but after 15 yrs I'm tired. it's a drag always feeling like crap you think in all of 15 yrs I would be better. allie welcome to the board I'm als a newbie.

Rachel, I've neve heard of the vit c thing how much do u take a day? and ditto as for the symptoms u put down and more. Have you had any cardiac problems because of lyme and co=infections? both of you can answer that It would be great?

I can't imagine, Marlene. I'm on year 4 and I get worn down thinking about it. How long have you been on treatment? I just passed my 1 year anniversary of being diagnosed (correctly) and starting treatment.

One of the MD's who did not diagnose me with Lyme had suggested I get an echo done of my heart. He was the only one who was concerned my my sky high platelet counts too. I was diagnosed with Lyme before I did the ecg and I feel like maybe I don't want to know. I had a ton of lung issues though. Are you having cardiac problems?

Hi Allie,

bit 2 yrs before being diagnosed. Yes I had cardiomyopathy after about 12 yrs of this.
Then I had a mini stroke this last easter from the lyme they did a spinal tap and the lyme even showed up there in my spinal fluid, I could list a whole list of the diseases this has given me but can't right now ok. I'm really kinda to depressed.. did you get diagnosed right away?

Hi allie, I was really depressed yesterday and I want to clarify my answer.

I have had lyme almost 15yrs went 2 of those years without being diagnosed.
I have had kidney problems due to lyme,I have encphelitisis due to lyme, I have had uveitsis, due to lyme. with my heart thought I went to the Dr with shortness of breath and chest not feeling right NO pain. They had me in a ambulance and on the way to er.
they repeated ekg and had me in admitted and in a bed in 1 hour pretty fast for er huh.

The next day they did a catherization and it showed I had enlarged heart and cardiomyopathy. I was so scared and they did say it was lyme. the mintue I stop any type of treatment I get worse that before and it strikes another part of my body. Please don't wait even though your scared I don't know how old you are but go to a heart Dr just for preventive care. I do have e-mail on here so if you or anyone else wants to privately e-mail thats ok to.

Good point Marlene, I will see about having it checked better.

I got diagnosed 3 years after I started feeling ill which just happens to be about a month after my last known tick bite. I'm 32 now. It is completely scary to think that the medical community really has no idea just how far reaching this can get. My naturopathic doctor has me on treatments right now to eliminate biofilm that the little lymies hide out under. This is mentioned breifly at the end of Under our Skin.

Have you done any naturopathic treatments?

hippie hiker chick, I have done mostly IV'S and bicillian shots and prescription antibiotics

I did do some natural stuff Dr zhangs and I think it was called marshall protocal? went down hill real fast did not work for me.

I will say everytime they checked my thyroid at a reg Dr it came out ok thats why going to a endocrinolgist is so important they do the whole panel.

My son gets the same symptoms when herxing.  In the fall and spring the cysts hatch and it is thought that during this time your symptoms may become worse, especially when on antiobiotics or from rifing.
