OK, not referring to any sexual stuff or gambling or drugs, stuff like that.  But I can't seem to quiet my mind and get a grip on a few certain things that are causing me problems.

Am I just looking for an excuse here?

Well, I'm not sure what you're referring to....

I've had problems with impulsive buying.....it's weird because I've never been a shopper at all. I really have to watch myself and ask, do we really need this? before I buy anything.

Very impulsive, and very unlike me. Can Lyme change your personality like that?

Is this the kind of thing you're having problems with?

I think that just being sick in general can influence our decision and make us look for something to make us feel better. I know I've struggled with making impulsive decisions, most of which have caused unpleasant effects emotionally, financially, and otherwise. But I try not to regret my past and always learn and grow from each experience...it's what makes me who I am.

Your post was very general/broad, so I'm not sure what you're struggling with - but if your mind is going 100 mph, maybe try journaling and just get your thoughts down on paper...it might help.

Lyme and the toxins it releases are very disruptive to normal brain function. Therefore, I find it very easy to believe it possible for Lyme / coinfections to cause impulse control issues.

I go back to my serious thoughts of suicide and almost acting on it. Then the antibiotics taking away those thoughts within two days. If that isn't proof that this disease can screw up brain function, I don't know what is.

I suffered some wicked mental issues too, but within four weeks of getting diagnosed and starting abx the really bad, destructive thoughts had reduced greatly. To me my thoughts were perfectly normal.............I didn't realise what had happened to me. The only impulsive thought I had.....or should I say impulsive rage was to very, very nearly run over two old ladies in a car park. They had done nothing wrong to me but something in my head just flipped.................this is a very scary, crazy disease that can seriously mess with your brain.

When sick there were times I would appear manic, during these periods I would buy things then when I got my head on (if I could find the recept, usually could ) returned unnecesary items I bought while on a high.

oh, I also would get hypersexual but did not cheat on my husband nor did I want to.

THANK YOU EVERYBODY FOR YOUR RESPONSES! i am heeding ALL of them!

Well, in case anyone is curious, my main problem is smoking. Yes, I understand that this is just an addiction. And I would like to treat it that way, because the actual physical cravings are not as big as we think they are. I hate being a smoker and I hate the pure waste of $$ spent, just because I am an addict.

My only other issue, I will bring up later, more than I can deal with tonite.
