I am fairly well aquainted with tramadol -
. I have been taking it on & off for a few years now.
Tramadol is Ultram without the acetaminophen (Tylenol).
According to WebMD - "This medication is used to help relieve moderate to moderately severe pain. Tramadol is similar to narcotic analgesics. It works in the brain to change how your body feels and responds to pain."
www.webmd.com/drugs/mono-5239-TRAMADOL+-+ORAL.aspx?drugid=4398&drugname=tramadol+Oral&source=2It only works for some pain for me (not the nerve pain), & I have never had any issues with side effects from it - but I will not take more than 150 mgs at a time, or more than 2 doses a day as I don't want to have to go to a pain clinic.
My doc doesn't want to prescribe the extended release form of this (Ultram ER), as he doesn't believe it is enough to take on the kind of pain that I have when I do need something stronger.
I hope this helps a bit, Bucci!! I have not been on the pain meds you are talking about
, so I have no idea how it compares to them.
