Another thing my naturopath was discussing with me is this way of trying to get body temp to re adjust itself by using T3 over the course of the day .

she gave me a whole paper on it.

You have to take the T3 at exactly the time indicated. she said it was something you have to really stay on top of and be in communication with your doctor but that it is working for people who have too low body temperature.

somehow it is a way of resetting the thermostat.

I wonder if this is true for lyme people.

I am thinking of trying it.

I would think this would only be successful in the setting of hypothyroid related low body temperature...if the person has low adrenal function as the cause of their low body temperature, then this method may or may not be successful in my opinion...I think it is better to test the thyroid and adrenals first before starting something like this...

I agree with Razzle. I have tried treating my thyroid this way 3 different times and ended up worse because of the adrenal involvement. Then adrenal treatment didn't work either so that's when the Lyme & co was suspected. More about this can be read on Wilson's Thyroid Syndrome or Wilson's Temperature Syndrome. It may work for some, but not for everybody. For those who benefit, they say it's a miracle cure.....

my body temp is way low too, and adreanals...

i do use support for both.

What temperature is considered a 'low' temperature? Anything below 98.6....or well below 98.6?

I tried the T3 for a couple of months and felt HORRIBLE. I had done so much research on it and considering doctors aren't much better at thyroid problems than they are at Lyme (here take this pill, as long as you're within in range that's ALL they care about), I was convinced I needed T3 to get it better regulated. Definitely was not the answer for me!

Thought I would bring this to the top.. Lately I have been having bad chills, figured I had low fever. Took Temp it was like 96.9, didnt believe it. New thermometer 97? My temp has never been below 98.5 in my life! I am almost always dead on 98.6.. Should I be concerned or is this just a normal lyme symptom?

Yes, low temperature is a common Lyme symptom. It is one of several ways that the bacteria that causes Lyme reprograms our bodies to be a better host for it.

My temp has been low for as long as I have had Lyme (25 years), but now that I am nearing the end of my treatment, my temp is close to normal (97.8). Hooray! During the worst of my illness, I was around 94F.

The problem with this low temp is that it allows all sorts of other opportunistic organisms and makes getting well very difficult. Many Lyme patients find that treatments like FIR saunas or regular saunas, hot tubs and spas as well as exercise, drinking hot beverages - anything that raises the core body temperature -- is really important.

Another thing to do to help keep your body temp up is to just dress warmer. Wear a T-shirt under a sweater or just a long sleeved shirt over a t-shirt - depending on the where you live and the temps right now. You can also get up and walk around a little every chance you get.

I just thought it was funny that both you and traveler have goats as a common interest, but evidently someone else didn't since I now have a thumbs down..

Actually, we both thought it was pretty funny when we found out we both had goats!
turn As Achievinggrace has said, not only do goats share similarities with us, but they definitely can improve your sense of humor!! smilewinkgrin

There's also nothing like watching a bunch of little baby goats bouncing around to bring a smile to your face!! =)

lyme caused my thyroid to go bad....so they put me on synthroid...i was on it for two years and miserable...my tsh was normal but i was really sick......*also had undiagnosed lyme causing me to feel unwell*....but it was only until my endocronologist put me on a dessicated thyroid treatment dis it ease up some of my symptoms....dessicated has T3 and T4 in it...some people have a poor T4 converter...which cause there tsh levels to be right but still having thyroid symptoms....the t4 actually reduced my pain significantly where i could function...i lost weight and had an overall feeling of *ok i can do this*.....that sustained me for another five years until i got so sick with lyme and trying to find a doc who would find it...but i would always choose dessicated *which comes from the thyroid of a pig* over the synthroid...i am currently on nature throid and thankgoodness it eased me up enough to deal with the lyme.....

Yeppers, Broken! I still have those exact same issues, mainly when I am tired or stressed a bit now though. It's a as if my fingers had a mind of their own...and can't spell!! LOL!

Hope that things are going well for you at Envita!!

Low body temp can be caused from so many things!! It can be really confusing if a person tries to make a blanket statement about the cause when Lyme is a factor. Here is where a person needs to look at the big picture first. Does that person have any issues with their thyroid or adrenals? What other symptoms does that person have that kind of 'go along with' a lowered body temp? When no other answers can be found, then one has to say that it's just because of Lyme - IMO.

but in response to this forum.....i think its your hypothalumus that controls body temp...and if lyme has infected that organ...yes your body temp will be low.....or too high...i know in my case i overheat really easy....my body cant cool itself down...AND if its cold outside...my body struggles to warm itself back up....like its violent..teeth chatter and muscless tighten up....and i usually pass out a couple of times in summer from heat exhaustion....people who have thyroid probs do have this problem because its a part of your endocrine system....but people who are infected with lyme or anything foreign that has free reign on where it goes....yes your hypthothalumus can be infected and cause your body temp to be affected

I would love to hear your experiences with Rife as you go through this! We don't have much info from Rife users, so this will be valuable info!
