I've been feeling my lower back tweak out sometimes over the last month and 3 days ago it locked up and has been horrible. Advil, rest, ice, and still is debilitating.

Fine, typical backache.

But!

Could it be that after suspecting Lyme's that I'm reading too much into every symptom?

Is it that I'm hopped up on seeing microbes at every turn, or could the little b*****ds be playing havoc around my vertebrae? It's a joint, and I have joint pain. Is this been a symptom that others have had?

Hi Herbert,

I reckon it's possible - Lymes does affect joints, and can cause nerve pain too. I've not had any pain in my back, only shoulder, neck, hands and knees but it seems that everyone is different.

BUT, you are also right to be cautious about linking it with Lyme's. Backs are exceptionally important, and very easy to injure. I reckon you should get it checked out in case it isn't related to your suspected Lyme's. It might even be something as simple as being too tense due to stress, sitting in the wrong way or slumping too much. Best to be safe not sorry!

I am seeing a chiro tomorrow.

I also have a tip on a N'path near me and will see if he is LL. Maybe I can turn 'em!

Hi Oldschool. I have one question for you....do you live northeast like me and been shoveling mounds of snow since Xmas? My back has been put through the ringer this season. I agree, it is easy to think every ache/pain/symptom might be lyme...but of course, lyme imitates other ailments and vice versa.

Ha, my back has been bothering me (not recently) but after shoveling lots of snow!  Oucherooooooo!   I'm not getting younger and I am just so tired of all this darn snow...   And now I hear we are getting more, oh no!

When is spring going to arrive, in July?  LOL!!!!

My worst pain is in my upperback. this intense burning.. that go's into my clavicale area and chest wall.. it lead to 100 million heart tests.. it scares the hell out of me.. not much helps it except a back pillow.. hot baths.. and some days ice. Yoga made it worse.. Damm LYME!

Better today, but only marginally. Advil is my drug of choice.

No shoveling! It didn't take ANYTHING to set it off. Weakened state of my body after so many years of suffering lets anything in!

Upper neck is my hugest complaint. It cracks and makes noise and is painful all the time.

Mid and lower back were very bad not to long ago, however, I've been staying away from heavy lifting etc... and what a huge difference.

Yes, I believe it's related to Lyme, no doubt!
