Hi...skiing at altitude...got left sided chest and upper abdomen pain. Not a new pain, but frightening when exercising. Am I having a heart attack, Lyme pain and fatigue, stomach pain or some combo? If I went to the ER every time I had this pain, I'd live there. I'm a doc, so I don't cavalierly roll into the ER, but I don't want to be stupid and not go when I should. Do any of you get frequent stomach area pain (left and central upper belly)? Does it radiate to your arm/back? Does exercise wipe you out completely some days and not others?

I get abdominal pain usually on my right side below my liver, probably about level with my pancreas. The pain in my abdomen comes around when I have pain in other places the same time as my abdominal pain. Yes my pain goes from the front to the back. When I have this pain I am also more fatigued. I think it is from irritated nerves due to inflammtion or herxing. I have had everything checked and no doctor can tell me what causes it. I do get it on my left side also, not as bad as the right. When I get like this I end up in the bath tub a few times in a day.

I always wondered if the pain could have something to do with the kidneys. My endo tells me that the adrenals wouldn't cause pain if they were severely stressed. I don't know if I believe that.

You could be suffering with anxiety. My sister has this with lyme and she said it sent her to the ER many times thinking it was a heart attack. She developed tightness in her chest, shortness of breath, abdominal pain and upper body pain in her neck and arms. She has to take anxiety meds.

One thing it could also be is your spleen. I read that certain bacteria from lyme disease can cause inflammation of the spleen. You may want to have this checked out.

Try taking a warm bath with about 3-4 cups of epson salts to see if it helps relieve it. Soak for at least 20-30min. Make sure your water isn't to hot.

Have you been diagnosed with lyme? I guess you are doctoring yourself?

No anxiety, just pain. My LLMD can't guarantee it's Lyme, but I had a positive test 22 years ago. I've sought out every specialist I could...no better explanation than Lyme.
Your spleen comment is interesting. It is in that spot that it hurts. Thanks!

I've had upper GI pain that radates through to my back at times from Lyme. I don't know if it is my large intestine, duodenum, stomach, or pancreas. Tests on all these things are normal or only show mild nonspecific inflammation (bowels/stomach).

I've gotten to the point where, if I have a new symptom, I get it checked out but if tests don't show anything specific, then I assume it is from Lyme because Lyme is really good at creating symptoms of things that don't show up on tests. Very frustrating, but that's how it seems to go, at least for me...
