getting in with an LLMD

Ok, so I was able to track down 3 LLMD's in my city and then surprisingly 1 in the small town where my parents are from (which is about 3 hours away).

One of them here in town does not take insurance and I can't afford. The other two work out of the same clinic and I'm quickly discovering that it is VERY difficult to get in to see them. Scheduling goes through their nurse and I called twice last week and twice this week and still have not had those calls returned/been able to set up an appointment.

Should I just remain patient (so much easier said than done..) and try to get in with the ones close here in town or should I just schedule with the one 3 hours away? (Already called to find out when he has openings-as soon as next week) How frequent were your first visits when trying to find a diagnosis? My parents are just concerned about how much we/I would have to make that 6 hour round trip..

...Thoughts??

This is just my opinion, but I would consider the difficulties that you are having just to make an appt as a big obstacle to your healing, if you were a patient there. I would be concerned that if you needed to speak with your doc or a nurse there, that you would have great difficulty just getting a call back.

Many Lyme Disease patients have to travel more than three hours to get to a LLMD - even though that alone would be more than enough!! The closest LLMD to me is 5 hours each way and over the years that I have been on this forum, I have seen that I'm far from being alone in those kinds of travel times. smhair
