Finally getting my first test for Lyme!

I did post this below in my Lyme Meningitis thread, but wanted to make sure it was seen so I started a new thread. Please feel free to delete the reply in my other post if needed.

Thank you all for your replies to my eariler thread. I did end up going to the ER where they did a CT and ruled out any problems in my brain. Blood work came back normal. Neurologist said everything looks fine with me. They keep insisting this is all psychological (to be honest, I wish it were). I did explain having the bite and rash last summer followed by flu-like symptoms a few weeks later. The doctor agreed to send my blood in to be tested for Lyme. This will be my first test for it. They said it could take a week or so to get them back. As much as I don't want to have this disease, a positive test would be somewhat of a relief so that I can start on treating this debilitating condition and get back to the person I used to be.

achievinggrace - It's interesting that you mentioned that aseptic meningitis can be a herxing reaction because this happened just two days after my first detox bath. Maybe there is a correlation?

By the way, I had no fever at the ER even though my entire head and face were on fire and hot to the touch. Also, my blood pressure was way lower than normal 91/50, but no one seemed concerned with that. Isn't low bp another possible indicator of Lyme?

I SO feel for you. My husband is going through the same thing. He had kind of like a nervous breakdown and is totally blaming himself because all his blood work is coming back fine. We are also waiting on lyme test and even if it is negative, I am going to insist he see my LLMD. Make sure please that you get a copy of your lyme test. There is so much more to the test (and I hope it was a western blot and not just an Elisa) than just positive or negative. With lyme, you must look at the banding. In fine print it says that the test is for "surveillance purposes only" and lyme must be a clinical diagnoses. Absolutely bizarre I know but I went three years thinking I had a negative test when in fact I had lyme which showed on the lab work ONLY IF YOU KNOW HOW TO PROPERLY READ A WESTERN BLOT which most doctors do not.
