There is a test that looks for the Lyme bacteria itself - called PCR. However, because Lyme does not prefer to be in the blood (Lyme prefers to be in the tissues), this test has a lower accuracy rating than the Western Blot.
It is a crime that they are trying to tell you that the ELISA is 99+% accurate for late-stage Lyme! Yikes! The ELISA, in my opinion, probably MISSES 99% of late-stage Lyme!!! -- ok, this is just my opinion, but you get my point I think...
I wonder if an antibiotic challenge would trigger a positive ELISA...?
