 Hello everyone :)

   So, I contacted the LLMD in Florida and he solidified my Neuro Lyme DX. From there, he put me on a protocol and sent me to the other coast of Florida to see a doctor about putting in the IV.

   I saw this doctor and he's amazing! (Just this monday actually!) Already, I have an infusion center that has my orders and working on getting me the PICC line and everything by the end of this week or beginning of next!

  Insurance is helping a LOT with the meds and supplies. Does anyone know how much the PICC line placement might be? I have insurance that will help too.

  Also, they're setting up a nurse to come see me. How often does she come? What should I expect to pay? (ie how much and if it's per day or per so many visits?).

  Right now, I'm taking probiotic, bunch of herbs and vitamins, Zithromax and Mephron. (BTW, the mephron is bright yellow and takes strange!) Until I get the IV. Then, I'm on rocephin, urso (sp), alinia, aspirin, probiotics, and the herbs and vitamins.

  Anyways, I'm super excited and ready to begin :) Any thoughts and answers are appreciated!

Best of luck! So glad that you are getting the treatment you need and the insurance is paying up.

Keep us posted on your progress!

BTW Mepron tastes more than strange! I took it for about 6 month and never got used to it. I had to let out a really loud Blecccch! every time I took it!

Super !! Good for you. I didn't have the same luck with my insurance company so they been paying for oral antibiotics for 2+ years instead. Idiots. LOL. Best of luck to you and I hope you are feeling great in no time.

Right after you get the PICC, they usually want you to get the first dressing change within 24-48 hours of PICC placement, and then dressing changes should occur once a week and any time the dressing gets wet or comes loose for as long as you have the PICC line.

Costs vary by state and facility, so you would need to talk to the billing department of whatever facility is placing your PICC line for a cost estimate. Also, contact the billing department of the home infusion company handling your supplies and dressing changes for their fees.

Hi Slayer! about a week ago, my LLMD told me he wanted me to go on the IV as well. I have my PICC line appointment set up and everything. I have amazing government health insurance and they cover prettty much everything. But, it turns out the they only cover 28 days of the IV treatment. My LLMD told me thats how almost all insurance companies are with the IV for Lyme. I asked them how much it would cost me out of pocket for the IV and it's 124 dollars a day, plus 90 dollars a week for the nurse visit. Yikesss thats over 4,000 a month. So i'm getting mine for 28 days and then going back on oral antibiotics. Good Luck!
