Hi De La Rosa!!
Thanks for stopping by! I'm sure that you will find us to be caring, understanding and helpful as well!
Yes there is a big possibility that these infections can be passed to an unborn child
and to nursing infants. There have been scientific studies done on this and have proven that it does happen. If these infections can e passed through the blood-brain barrier, they are small enough to pass through the placenta.
As I suggested for Phillypina, if you are interested in more info on pregnant mothers and children, please go to Dr. Charles Jones' site:
www.drjoneskids.com. You will find a whole lot of info there on the subject.
If your daughter-in-law is not pregnant or nursing, then we have all kinds of info here and we can refer you to other sites for more info if needed. If you haven't already, it would be beneficial for you to start with reading through the thread at the top of the forum titled,
"New to Lyme?...Start here!!", as it is packed full of relevant information and informative links that have been put together by our members here! As you know, we also have a pretty good search function on this forum to help you narrow down your search for information from past posts.
Does she need a Lyme Literate Medical Doc (LLMD)? If so, please let us know. Getting in to be seen by someone who is already familiar with this set of infections for treatment is crucial. We have several places to refer her to that will help her find the closest doc to her. Some patients do have to travel in order to get to one, though.
Would she be interested in joining HW? Of course that would be best, but if not then you are most certainly welcome to come here and ask questions for her as well as for you, ask about
any concerns and of course get our best opinions on things!
I do hope this helps a bit!! Once again, Welcome to our side of the board!!
