Epstein Barr, Varicella Zoster and Rubeola

Lyme weakens the immune system which can cause ordinary viruses to become active. The best advice I have is eat healthy... exercise... rest... water and green tea. Eventually your immune system should win sending the viruses back into sleep mode. Did your Doctor give you any prescriptions?

Have you been vaccinated for measles (rubeolla) or chicken pox (varicella zoster)? Or have you had either of these infections or Mononucleosis before?

These viruses hide in the body once the acute (active, symptomatic) stage has ended. The body and the viruses reach some kind of "agreement" and the viruses lie dormant while the immune system ignores them. This is what happens in "healthy" people.

In those who have been infected with Lyme, however, the immune system is no longer able to function normally. Therefore, the viruses that were once dormant are able to become activated again. But because of the disabled immune system and because of prior infection/immunization, the immune system does make some kind of effort to go after these viruses and thus you don't get all the classic symptoms of the diseases again (mono = fatigue, lymph node swelling, fever, etc.; measles = characteristic rash, sometimes fever, etc.; chicken pox = characteristic rash, fever, etc.) but may manifest partial symptoms - such as fatigue or fever, but not the characteristic rash, for example.

Or, if Lyme came first, because Lyme disables the immune system, these viruses can then become low-level chronic infections because of the lack of major attack on the viruses. This means the symptoms may not be readily apparent, but the viruses can still be active.

Anti-viral stuff:

Vitamin C, garlic, probiotics, lots of water & rest, and various herbs can all help reduce viral load and improve symptoms. There are antiviral medications that can be helpful, but not everyone agrees this is necessary or useful in these types of chronic infections.

Also, avoiding sugar (weakens the immune system, feeds bacteria & yeast), gentle exercise (as tolerated), and treating the Lyme/coinfections will help.

Razzle is right-on!  Also, do you have any cavities or root canals?  Both harbor dozens of "silent" bacteria for serious diseases that are dormant until something else in the body triggers them.  Lyme can be the trigger, because it aggrevates a number of things in the body.
