Help with working the system while awaiting diagnosis

My poor husband is still really sick.  Despite working for a major corporation for over 25 years, we are getting little assistance and are being driven crazy with paperwork threatening to terminate his salary for failure to have a diagnosis.  he has been hospitalized twice and the only diagnosis we have is anemia, depression and anxiety.  No one in the medical profession is willing to help us  or hurry up the process.  I just don't know where to turn.  He has appointments for psychiatrist, hematologist and therapist.  I just know it is lyme but Igenex too is dragging their feet. 

Anyone have any advice on delay tactics or how to get to the point of diagnosis quicker.  I am at wit's end.  Thanks.

I'm so sorry about your husband being ill and all the problems you both are having.. been there and it stinks!

I wish I had some really great advice for you..  I can only talk from experience and when I was sick with lyme I was working at a major corporation (at that time I didn't know it was lyme, I just knew I was sick).  I was taking days off, sitting at my desk with bad chills from fevers, etc.  

I kept seeing different doctors and yep, still no diagnosis.  Finally I met a doctor who told me to chart my temperature everyday which I did.  He gave me a letter to give to work stating that I was suffering from abnormal fevers and that I needed 3 months off aka "leave of absence"..   Naturally I didn't get paid for those 3 months but at least I had my job.  

If I were you, see as many doctors as you can just for now and get something in writing.

Thanks. Appreciate it. You at least gave me the incentive to keep plugging along on these apts which don't seem to be of any use.

I had private investigators apparently hanging outside my house two summers ago as I was disabled from my job and the long term disability insurance co. ASSUMED I was working at some other job AND collecting. This is how the sick and injured are treated. And they call this a SYSTEM???

Hi Springsjean,

Have you asked your doctor's office to code the symptoms, or the different aspects of the illnesses he was diagnosed with?  The Autism community has the same problem--submit anything to your insurance co. with a diagnosis of Autism, and they won't pay.  Submit it as mitochondrial dysfunction, asthma, gluten allergy, etc. and it gets covered.  It's a game.  See the TACA website for more information: http://www.tacanow.org/family-resources/insurance-coverage-on-a-budget/
